Sorry for such a long post. I posted on here a while back, but didn't get much feedback, so I added some new information about myself. What do you all think my chances are at these schools?

Also, I'm a rising senior, and I'm trying to narrow this list down to 7 or 8 schools. Any tips as to how I should go about doing this would be greatly appreciated (too many reaches? safeties?).

Come on. Anyone?

bump--bump

you don't stand out, but there's also nothing wrong with you. gonna be interesting.

I hate it when nobody responds to your chances so:

If you think you can score higher on your SAT reading/writing try to do so, it will up your chances significantly. You have decent ECs and are captain of 2 sports (I don't count math as a sport :P). Your GPA is pretty good. You are as you described yourself a good, but not great applicant to these top schools. As for the schools in particular:

Brown-High Match
Bucknell-Safe Match
Carnegie Mellon-Safe Match
Case Western-Safe Match
Cornell-High Match
Duke-High Match
Johns Hopkins-Match
Lehigh-Safety
MIT-Reach
Penn State - Schreyer Honors College-I don't know about the honors college
Rensselaer-Safety, you should get some merit $$ here
Michigan-Safe Match
Penn-Low Reach, I assume you're applying to engineering.
Virginia-Match

Good luck, nice, well balanced list, and I expect you to get into some extremely competitive schools.

i'm new to this. what does "bump" mean?

means you push your thread up to most recent so that everyone who comes to the forum sees your thread first.

I'm sorry to tell you this but in today's world no one is a match at the ivies and most top colleges. So I wouldn't take FredFredBurger's chance predictions very seriously.

Thanks for all the input guys. Brooklynrats, enderkin is right about "bump," but it literally stands for "bring up my post."

I am going to do a lot of SAT prep this summer, and I'm pretty sure I will be able to break 2300 in October. I also just got my AP scores and got 5s on all of them. How much will these things help my chances?

bump it up

I'm not completely sure, but AP scores don't count for admission- they count only for credit. If you look at a transcript, there is not spot for them.

good but not great.
get a life please.

Myn- AP scores do count for college admissions. You can send the scores to the colleges. 5's (and 4's) will help your admission greatly.
