Remember. Affirmative action will only take you so far. While it can help you a bit, don't expect it to work miracles.

However, while you didn't provide a lot of information, you seem to be a relatively qualified candidate (assuming your grades are up and you have another hook).

Not many mixed-race blacks and Asians. So that could be the extra push you could use.

Same with me: 3.4. I assume that you are taking all honors and some APs like me? I'm taking the SATs again and will probably get around what you have.

I'm looking at Michigan, Rochester, and Wisconsin as my main levels.

You have a strong chance anywhere. Your SATs are very high for a urm, and you have leadership positions. I you have good rank and recs, you will get into a top college.

heidijones, like USCgurl said, just check black if you really want in. Biracial people always seem to want to ackowledge their other half, but your other hailf means nothing to mainstream American, and just being black will get you more than anything.

I think with a 3.4 and 2230 University of Michigan is a reach...Maybe for heidijones it's a match since you're a URM but Heavenwood, I'd be calling that a reach. Rochester and Wisconsin are solid good matches though.

Oh...for me. You saw my stats? I'm not trying to steal the thunder from you, heidijones, but while we're on the subject, chocolateluvr88. Do you think if I applied very early (like on the first day) to Michigan, I could have a decent chance?

Yes, you definately have a decent chance. It's probably a slight reach. I have kind of similar stats and I was accepted (34 ACT = 1520 and 3.6UW GPA which came out to 3.5Mich GPA). I applied early, but not very early. Applying very early will definately help your chances, but the 25-75% for GPA I believe is like 3.6-3.9Mich GPA, so don't count on it.
