<p>Studied abroad twice in Spain over the past 2 summers, taking courses in Spanish language and community service</p>

<p>For my intended major of linguistics, i should also note that i taught myself french throughout my sophomore year and the summer of 2008 to the level where i am currently taking AP french. additionally, i have started teaching myself russian this summer and will continue to do so throughout the school year to prepare for college courses.</p>
<p>I think you have a really good shot. Especially because Columbia is always looking for linguistic and foreign language majors. The Dean of Admissions said it himself.</p>

<p>i am also interested in lingusitics. however, i didn’t see linguistics as a possible major on the list when i applied online… i know columbia has a department and a major, but i didnt find it. is it there?!</p>
<p>Well it’s not my first choice, but there are about 5 schools that I’m applying to where I would be equally happy, so Columbia is very high on my list…and I didn’t apply ED anywhere because I would like to compare all my FA packages.</p>
