Chances for a hopeful girl!!!!!!

Hello everyone! Well the title says it all, what do you think my chances are at top tier schools? Thanks to everyone in advance!!!!!

Female
white
Junior
Public High School in Maryland
I would say that it is competitive.

GPA will be about 3.7 at end of Junior year. :( I know, it is a bit low, but only because I am taking the toughest workload in school. I am in more AP's then anyother person in my class. I am taking 4. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but my school is very academically challenging and my teachers don't really like to hand out too many A's.

By the time i graduate I will have taken 10+ AP's.

ACT- 32
Class rank- not 100% sure, but I am definitly in the top 10%, if not the top 5%, of about 380 students.

EC's
4 school clubs.
club 1 I have been president of for 10th, 11th, and will be 12th.
Club 2 will be vice-president next year.
Club 3 and 4 I could hold positions in next year, I am not sure yet. I am very involved in each club and devote a great deal of time to all 4. That is basically why I don't have too amny more EC's
Piano-7 years won minor awards
Jobs-I have had two. Both during junior year.
CS-100+...mostly durg awarness programs, school beautification projects, and I also spent time with a program in Florida helping out with the hurrican(s) aftermath.
Awards- not much just minor awards. However, I have won a fairly presitigous national CS award.

Well what do you think my chances are at the following schools...
Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, JHU, and U of Mayland. I plan on majoring in some sort of science.

Thank you all again!!!!!!

Did you take the SATs?

yes, but my score wasn't very good. I took it in the 10th grade and was in the 1200 range. I didn't want to take it again.

I'm in tenth and taking it this year too.

then they're all reaches except for maryland.

I think JHU and Cornell are reaches. Applying ED is your best bet since they tend to accept alot ED. Brown and Dartmouth are higher reaches, if you really want them ED is also your best bet. Maryland is obviously a lock.

My only advice is to add more match/ slight reach schools. You might consider Rice, Emory, WashU, or maybe LACs like Middlebury and Vassar.

might want to look at schools like Bucknell, Holy Cross or Lafayette. Holy Cross has the better location - 1 hour from Boston.

There are lots of good schools below the ivies where you will have a much better chance. I agree with those slipper listed and otheres that compete with them.

If you have lots of fives on the APs and 730 plus SATIIs, then add an ivy.

First of all thank you all for your replys. Second I do have other schools that are what I would consider my safeties and matches, but these were a few that I wasn't too sure about.

P.S. why do I need to take the SAT's or the SATII's, can't you take the ACT in place of those?

DJ,
You will need to check the college websites about the SAT's. Some schools require all of them. Don't make any assumptions without confirming it.
