Chances for a junior aiming high?

Junior from LI, NY public school
-mom is russian refugee w/ degree from russian college, currently a chemist
-dad has no degree (chef)
-grandfather (on dads side) is a holocaust survivor
-no one in my family has a degree from a US university
-white (jewish), upper middle class
-other: i have a disease called ulcerative colitis that has made my HS life hell and i will write about it in my essays how i still kept up with my work even though i missed some school)
GPA: 97.52 UW, 98.75 W
SAT: (first time was in march): 2170 (770 M, 710 CR, 690 W)
PSAT: 225
SAT II: Bio 800, Spanish 800, Math Ic 800
APs: AP world history (4), AP US, AP bio, AP lang
junior sched (no lunch/offperiods): trig, chem, AP bio, APUSH, AP Lang
Senior sched (NO LUNCH): Physics, Pre-calc, AP lit, AP spanish, AP macro
Awards: National Spanish Exam Gold medal (2x), NYSSMA Outstanding Score (5x), Bausch & Lomb Honorary Sci Award</p>

<p>Research: Ovarian Cancer stem cells @ sloan-kettering hospital (best cancer hospital in the US)...project coming along very well
ECs: Varsity Swim (since frosh), Varsity XC, Varsity Spring Track, Jazz band, spanish NHS, Science NHS, Math NHS, NHS, certified lifeguard, travel baseball</p>

<p>..anyway, if I do well at science competitions (siemens, intel, etc)...who knows?</p>

<p>The research you do sounds great; retake the SAT and potentially consider a different topic for your essays, as the nature of the topic could come across as overdone or like an excuse. Also, your family history likely won’t significantly aid you in admissions. </p>

<p>Overall I think you have a decent shot at all those schools :)</p>

<p>I’d retake the SAT and/or try the ACT. Your CR score would make Brown, Duke, Penn and
Schools at that level tough being from LI.</p>
