Chances for a junior? CAS

NJ Asian Male

GPA: 3.51 cumulative
freshman: 3.14
sophomore: 3.53
junior: 3.87

Clear upward trend.

Courseload: more/most demanding (not sure what GC will put, but I have a pretty good relationship with him). Increase in rigor, started lackluster, but junior/senior years are definitely most demanding category.

Senior schedule:
AP Calc BC
AP Physics B
AP Literature
AP Psych
AP Microeconomics
Latin II H

SAT: 1470/2210
SATII: MathII - 760, Literature - Haven't taken, but I'm guessing 700+

AP scores: Pretty positive I got 5's on Calc AB, Lang/Comp, Macroeconomics
(I know they're accepting AP scores now :D)

EC's:
DECA (founder, president) (9-12)
FBLA (secretary, vp) (9-12)
Cultural Diversity Club (10-12)
Model UN (9-12)
Private guitar lessons (4 years)
Hospital volunteer (3 hours/week, 4 years)
Research with a physics professor at BC (to be done this summer)

Potential problems: only took up to German III, started HS in mostly normal-level classes, and obviously, cumulative GPA.

Thanks!

I think NYU is a “match” school for you, with the obvious caveat that you may just be on the cusp. The fact that you only took up to German III isn’t really a big deal, but the rigorousness of your class schedule and your GPA are. Just keep pulling that GPA up, and you should be ok, particularly if your guidance counselor makes note of the fact that your class schedule has become increasingly demanding. Make sure you get a great teacher recommendation as well.

Oh, and your ECs are good. Don’t go adding on more just for the hell of it.
