Chances for a Junior?

Hi, guys. I'm a current junior at a competitive public high school in Long Island. I'm a Caucasian male.

I love Cornell and can absolutely see myself going there. Their programs are spectacular and the campus is extremely nice.

I would apply early decision and would probably either apply to CALS or CAS. I would like to major in something bio related or Econ.

GPA: 4.0 UW as of now
AP: Euro 5, Psych 5
Bio and US History this year
10-11 APs by graduation

ACT: 35 (35 E, 34 M, 33 R, 36 S)

ECs
Model Congress (Exec Board)
School Newspaper (Possible board position next year)
Debate
Volunteered at community center to teach a science class K-1
Tourette's Syndrome Associaton youth buddy
Soup kitchen youth advisory board
National Honors Society
World Language Honors Society
Possible internship this summer at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC

In addition to Cornell the only other school I really want to go to UPenn, but with no legacy (at either) it's really a crapshoot at my school with ridiculously competitive classmates.

Adelph

Your grades and ACTs are more than competitive for any school in the US. Your ECs look fine.

Both CALS and CAS have Bio Majors. CAS has econ CALS/Dyson has applied economics and management.

Cornell would let you apply to both schools. With the two you’ve mentioned, you should be able to write essays explaining why both schools work for you.

Since you’re in-state, CALS would be much less expensive for you.

Don’t know what else there is to say. You look competitive, but these days there are no sure things.

Hey all,
I am a current Junior, and was wondering if someone could tell me an estimate of where I stand when I apply ED next year to the Cornell College of Engineering assuming an SAT score of around a 2260 (my projected score: 800M, 740W, 720R)

I am an Israeli student that moved to the States only 3 years ago (started freshman year). I am fluent in Hebrew, and English, and am somewhat proficient in Arabic.

I have a 4.0 Unweighted GPA and a 4.63 weighted (because of APs and scores exceeding 97). My school does not believe in class rankings, but if it would, I would be ranked #1 or #2 in my class.

This year I am taking AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, and AP English 11 (language and comp). Over the summer I am planning on taking either Calc II at Harvard (which will give official college credits) or a summer school course at Columbia – Mathematical Boot Camp for Budding String Theorists.
Next year I will be taking AP English 12/AP English Special Topics (specialized AP English course for my school), AP Calculus BC/Calc III, AP Computer Science, AP Physics C (counts as 2), and Statistics.

I am the Captain of my school’s Cross Country Team, founder of the Half Marathon Club, Initiator of an international Jewish Leadership Program, and a statistical analyst for a start-up test-prep company based at MIT. I am also a member of my school’s A Capella club, acting as a both a base and soloist, and swing dance as one of my electives. I am a math and science tutor as well as an officially trained Red-Cross Lifeguard.

I have double legacy at Cornell, my mom went to Med School, and my dad to ILR. My dad has strong connections with ILR because he does grant work, and research on their behalf.
