your GPA is very solid…and being in top 5 is VERY impressive. of course the weight given to taht will vary depending on the size of your school, classes, etc, but still. nice job
your SAT score is pretty solid but might be a little low for schools like Johns Hopkins and UPenn (the two schools taht jumped out at me as being a little more competitive) your ECs are pretty good, nothing overly negative or positive. i’d stress the fact that you did sports b/c that seems to make you stand out. also, you might mention if you’re the president/captain of anything?
overall pretty solid and you have a good shot at most of the colleges you listed…good luck!

Thank you very much Lunge, and fuzzyfirebunny.
And thanks for the advice north_face. My friend told me to do the same thing.
Do you think I should try retaking the SATs?

ha, only you know :D. given the scores you have now, i think you could score very high if you dedicated a bunch of practice to it…but a 34 ACT score is good enough for most schools on your list.

Haha. The thing is I definitely don’t want to study nor do I have the time to study. I went into both of those tests doing about 10 practice problems twos nights before. So yeah. Without studying I don’t think my scores will improve much.

Your high school doesn’t sound especially competitive with so few APs so top 5 is good but not great. Ivies generally want you to be val or sal from less competitive schools. You’re from an overrepresented state. Your ECs are average. If you really want Brown or Penn I’d put in the time to get scores as high as possible.

Boston College, Providence College, and Northeastern are all likely… My school had 12+ accepted to BC and Northeastern this year. Only suggestion: retake the SAT and aim for a 700 in each. it’ll look better that way
