chances for a kid who is more average

Does anyone have any idea what my chances would be at these schools?
Tulane
Tufts (big reach, but i do have a double legacy)
Dickinson
Bucknell
U Miami
Commonwealth College at UMass
Conn College

I know i'm probably reaching too high, but here are my stats.
710 CR, 660 M, and 630 W probably gonna re-take for that writing section
30 ACT

700 U.S. history SAT 2, 610 on chem..
5 on US AP
EC's

basketball 1 yr
track 1 yr
lax 4 yrs
some comm. service (75 hrs..)
I took a college spanish course at tufts over the summer

any chance at those schools?
thanks

You actually have great chances, aside from that GPA. Try to get some more As this year. If you get rejected it'll be because of that. Have your grades been rising? Have you gotten anything lower than a B?

My grades have def. been on a positive trend line since my first year, i was getting 3.5's then 3.6's then in my junior year i got high 3.6 low 3.7
and i did get two C+s

do you think the tufts ED has any chance?

thanks!

You should look at BU.

from my understanding, Tufts very much likes ED applicants. You certainly have more of a chance than not applying, and it is conceivable that you would get in. Just write strong essays, and you have a great shot.

I don't know if you'd get into Tufts if you have C's... even if you're a double-legacy. And ED isn't so much of a help anymore either; the number and percentage of applicants accepted through the ED program has declined exponentially in the past few years.

Oh 2 C+s? Rejected, sorry...

do you guys have any opinions about my shot at the other schools?

Are you male or female? Many of the lacs have fewer male applicants so it is a little easier for a male to be accepted. Several males I know have been admitted to Dickinson with your stats. Conn college likes ED applicants and I think you would be likely if you went ED. VP of your class for several years is a terrific EC. I believe your ACT score is stronger than your SAT scores and you may be more competitive submitting just the ACT. Consider checking with admissions at a few of these schools to see how they view an ACT of 30.

Might look at Holy Cross or Colby.

What, does 2 C+'s make someone an auto-reject at Tufts? ... I find that somewhat inconclusive, lol... it depends on what classes you got them in (it might not look AS bad in an AP/honor course), your total courseload, how that compares to other students in your class, and etc

But based on your other stats, I'd advise you to raising your SAT 100-200 points atleast, if you want to outweight your somewhat low GPA (weighted? unweighted?) And your SAT IIs are important as well, study hard to raise those scores! Your ECs are pretty good though - try to get "glowing" recs and write amazing essays :) I'm applying to Tufts as well, so best of luck!

I think Tufts is worth a shot. You have good ECs.
