<p>Great chances. But being asian AND from a over/highly-represented state is going to make it a lot harder for you to get in.</p>
<p>Are you applying to the college or to SEAS? It's going to be a lot tougher to get into the college than into SEAS for you.</p>
<p>And, for the love of god, ADD SAFETIES besides UMD. UMD is a good school but do you really want to go there? You could get more stuff and perhaps just as good of a tuition break at other schools (UMich, UVermont, Syracuse, Rochester, UVa, and tons of LACs).</p>
<p>If you're applying to the college, without an AMAZING essay or other unlisted ECs you're going to be deferred. If you're applying to SEAS though, you've got a great shot.</p>
<p>I'm also concerned that a lot of your ECs started Junior year. That's called resume padding...</p>
<p>Good SATs, but the rank for Ivies need to be in the top 3%, not just 5%--so give us an actual ranking so we can really tell your chances. Also, I agree with ses that many of the ECs are ones you are only just starting--thus career padding can be argued.</p>
<p>Personally, I'd rather see fewer ECs, but ones that are more focused in a particular directions--and in an area that you are particularly interested in pursuing while in college.</p>
<p>ses- i'm applying to the college (no interest in engineering) thanks for the reply! and i dunno, UMCP gives crazy amounts of scholarship money, especially to a majority of the people in the magnet at my school (like $8000 to full rides) so yeah, it's a really good safety, for me. </p>
<p>calcruzer- also, thanks for your reply! unfortunately (or fortunately?), my school doesn't have an official ranking system so top 5% is the best i can do. </p>
<p>i agree with you and ses on the ecs, (i regret not involving myself in more earlier) but don't sports/out of school activities count too? field hockey i've done for 3 + years and i've volunteered with kids at church for 6 years. shouldn't those show my passion/dedication?</p>
<p>You're fine. It would be shocking if you don't get into most of your list. Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, and Rice seem really safe. You should get into some of the tough ones, too. Look at University of Chicago. People who like Columbia often apply there, also. You will get in.</p>
<p>OneMom is right; JHU, CM, and Rice -are- basically safeties for you, livingtea. Unless they all decide to reject you because they suspect you are too overqualified to ever decide to attend (something I doubt will happen), I don't foresee you having any problems with those three. I've seen drastically less competitive applicants make those three schools, and in the case of JHU, you have an advantage as a "home-grown," in-state applicant.</p>
