Chances for a lot of schools

Chance me for...

Princeton (Deferred early), Cornell, Tufts, Columbia, UChicago, Dartmouth, UPenn (CAS), Claremont McKenna, Pomona, Duke, Williams, Northwestern, Wash U in Saint Louis, Georgetown, Trinity (CT), and Syracuse.

My current estimate is:

Reach: Princeton, UPenn, Dartmouth, Columbia, UChicago
Low Reach: Pomona, Williams, Claremont McKenna, Georgetown, Cornell, Duke
High Mid: Northwestern, Tufts
Mid: Wash U in Saint Louis
High Safety: Trinity
Low Safety: Syracuse

Awards: National Merit Semifinalist, AP Scholar with Honor, Le Grand Concours certificat d'honneur, National Top 50 Quizbowl team, National Top 32 History Bowl team, 68th Nationally in the History Bee (individual event), Best Written Argument (TN Youth in Government Lawyer team, Senior division), Region Meet Qualifier (500 and 200 Freestyle).

Job/Research Experience: Summer research internship (that actually continued into the school year as my first independent study) in Economics with Dr. Laffer, former head economist of the OMB and "the father of supply-side economics."

Teacher recs: Apparently excellent (and from teachers with good histories of acceptances)
Counselor rec: Pretty good.

Essays: Edited by me, my father, my uncle, my AP English teacher, and my counselor, so they are pretty good.

Hooks: Economics, One-parent family.

Weaknesses: GPA mostly (though I've had a serious net upward trend from Sophomore year, with a 3.9 this past semester)--I could have some more focus in my ECs, but I think they work together ...somewhat.

Those predictions mostly seem right, but I think NW and WUSTL could go into the low reach category.

Just look up the acceptance rates of these schools from the previous year.

The only reason I put Northwestern and Wash U in St. Louis so low was that my school feeds a lot to Wash U (about 30% of a class gets in each year, though only 4 or 5 students actually attend), and we’re typically pretty good with Northwestern (though not as good as with Wash U).

If interested in Tufts and Trinity, might look at Holy Cross-top25 LAC with January26th application due date.

Bump! Any other considerations? Also, how about Brown and Vanderbilt (where I’m a double legacy at a feeder)?

Bumpity bump! Anyone?
