Chances for a mediocre/below average student?

My unweighted gpa is 3.7 and my SAT score is 2000 (760 reading 610 math 630 writing)

I've taken after this year i would have taken 4 AP classes (AP World History, APES, AP Lit, AP Art history) currently I have taken and gotten all 4s on AP World History, APES, and AP Us history. This year I will probably take the tests for AP Lit, AP Art history and maybe AP comp sci or AP psych or AP european history (comp sci and european history are not offered at my high school as classes)

I have 100 hours of community service with Calphil

So what are my chances for USCD, UCI, U of Washington, Syracuse, Carnegie Mellon(its a stretch but my parents want me to apply) Art Center, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Rensselaer Polytech Inst? I'm planning to major in cognitive science with a focus on human ai interaction/interaction design/hci and have an art portfolio prepared.

whats the art portfolio for?

@boxlogoboy some of the schools require one

I have no idea what your chances are, but a 3.7gpa and 2000 SAT are not below average.

UCI: Match
UCSD: High Match/Low Reach
Not sure about the rest.

How do you figure any of your stats are below average? Perhaps the only thing BA about you is your lack of ECs…unless you’re just omitting them.

@pennplease2015 I actually recieved 2 C-s before so that probably won’t look very good. Yeah I dont have any ECs unless you count art but I don’t think that’s usually considered as an EC.

Of course art is considered an EC, and you may submit a portfolio, too.
You’d have to detail what you do and provide examples of awards won, exhibits organized (in school, in a gallery…)

yeah I haven’t won any contests and I haven’t been featured in any galleries other than school galleries but I do have a portfolio that received many positive reviews on National Portfolio Review Day

Mention all of it. If the schools you’re applying to offer the chance to apply for arts-based merit scholarship, upload your portfolio on Slideroom.
