Chances for a Naval Academy transfer?

I'm a junior transfer applicant from the United States Naval Academy and I'm looking to get into Michigan for the Winter term. I'm a Quantitative Economics major (half math/half econ) with a 3.24 GPA, but I'm looking to switch into Mathematical Sciences or pure Mathematics if I get accepted to Michigan. In high school I had a 3.4 weighted and a 3.3 unweighted GPA. I received a 28 on the ACT. I have pretty extensive extra curriculars and was an All-American water polo player in high school. I also have played polo for two years here at the Naval Acadmey. I would have a lot higher GPA, but my last semester was ridiculously hard and I ended up with a 2.63 for the semester (ouch!). I'm also worried that my decision to apply to Michigan was really late and I submitted my application on September 30th, the day before the deadline; however, all of other required materials made it in before then. In two years I have 72 credits to date which I believe somewhat displays a challenging course load. My transcript at the academy looks like this:

I have started taking these courses for this current 2008 fall semester because I am forced to go to class while the process for my separation goes through (it takes a couple weeks and I will be going back home to Michigan October 20th), although I won't be receiving any credit.

Do I have a decent chance to be accepted?

The C in Multivariable Calculus is a bit concerning, considering your previous stellar performances in Calculus. And your recalculated GPA would be a concern as well, my rough math makes me think it's above a 3.0. And there is a distinct downward trend of grades, but with a letter of explanation that's okay.

However despite this, were I an admissions counselor, I'd recommend you for admission. I know it takes a lot to even get into the Naval Academy in the first place.

Be advised however, that a few of your classes will not transfer (American Naval History and Navigation and Piloting for example), but that's okay and not too much of a concern.

Thanks JJJJust. Accepted! :)

Congrats, how many days do you have left at "Canoe U" before you can leave?

Haha, I've never heard "Canoe U," but that's a good one! I'm leaving Monday the 27th. I guess I'll just get a job until school starts. I also applied to Notre Dame, but they send out their decisions December 1st at the earliest, which is the enrollment fee deadline for Michigan. I still don't know which university I would rather go to, but hopefully I can ask for an early decision.

Oh, maybe Canoe U is more CGA, but IDK, it can work both ways. I kinda want to go to Navy, or CGA, but I'm not sure, it's no fun at all, you know all about that, lol.

Good luck at UM.
