I already made a chance thread before...but certain things have changed. Before you point out any discrepancies between this and my last, my last one had an SAT score which I was predicting. Reality, was, in fact, a bit more generous than I would have hoped for :)

I'm looking for chances at MIT, Olin, Michigan, and Michigan Tech

P.S--I keep hearing about Presidential Scholars, is there any chance that my scores are good enough to be top 20 males for michigan? Or should i retake the ACT?

Obviously, you got something going for ya, ecthelion1211. 4.0, val, 2400, demonstrated leadership, 2 varsity sports, math/science awards. Are you seriously worried?

I'm not worried, but I've seen the kids that get rejected from MIT and they are incredible. So, really, I think anyone should be worried about getting into that school.

Basically, I just want to know if I have as good a chance as any, or better than most, of getting in....

Your qualifications look very comparable to Olin students. If the small size, and other non-traditional aspects of Olin interest you, go for it.

Do you have a particular area of study that you're interested in now for college?

Presidential Scholars and Admission to top universities are based off more than just scores. If you can right great essays and produce good recommendations then you've got an excellent chance. What you want to be careful of is coming off as arrogant or cocky.

Don't worry about me having fun, I spend very little time on school stuff. For me, academics is usually over when the last bell rings :)

I'm interested in Chemical and Electrical Engineering, depending on which one strikes my fancy more. I'm a little worried that MIT might not be right for me, if everybody there is an academic robot...I want to work hard, but have a lot of fun in college as well.

Thanks for the feedback! Essays are my strongest suit, so I think I should be all set on that end. Is there anything else I could do to increase my chances? I'm trying to get an internship helping this chem. professor who is friends with my mother over the summer with research. Would this be helpful?

Thanks in advance (and don't think I'm some sort of nerd...I am just a normal kid)
