So what are my chances for:

1) U Chicago
2) William and Mary
3) Univ of Southern California
4) Pomona
5) NYU
6) Duke
7) Rice
8) Emory

my 1st choice being U Chicago. I am not apply for financial aid (if that helps) and am applying Early Decision./

Can you recommend some safeties too?
and what can I do (I am a junior) to better my chances?

don't really wanna go to william and mary & emory actually. And I doubt that I will apply to Duke. But I am curious to see what you guys are going to say.

bumpy bump ... cmon people

I'd say you're in at Rice

Dont know about others

You've got a great shot at Duke too...from your list it looks like that's your reach school. I say apply b/c Duke accepts students regardless of (in)ability to pay.

"Planning to play varsity soccer for another 2 years"

..how old are you?

i'm from VA to.

i've heard different sorts of stories from W&M, sometimes the most random candidates have gotten in. Just this year, one of the brightest seniors at my school got rejected with an almost flawless record/application.
And at the same time this year, another senior with a class rank of 51 got accepted.

As for you,

1) U Chicago- Don't know much about it, heard it's a swell school. I'd say in.
2) William and Mary- Again, random. in.
3) Univ of Southern California- A reach, but i'm not to familiar with out of state acceptance rates at the UC's
4) Pomona- In
5) NYU- In, although it depends on what you want to do.
6) Duke- errr. i'd say reach
7) Rice- in
8) Emory- reach

When does your soccer season start at your school...?

really? I am pleasantly surprised by your responses. My soccer season starts in February. So by "another 2 years" i really meant two more seasons one of which starts next month and one my senior year, cuz I am a junior right now.

But wow! are you guys serioius? I am a korean going to a public school in VA. I am flattered.

thanks,

anybody else?

legendofandrey--Pomona has about a 15.8% admit rate; Duke's is 21%; Emory's is in the 30s. So I'd say Pomona is a reach, too.

... does that mean emory is a match for me? and duke is a high match? you are telling me that pomona is harder than duke?

also what is my chance for Northwestern?

1) U Chicago: Reach
2) William and Mary: dont know
3) Univ of Southern California: you're in
4) Pomona: Dont know
5) NYU: you're in
6) Duke: high reach
7) Rice: you're in
8) Emory: dont know
Northwestern: not sure...probably a good chance

Hmm..seeing that you excel in math and science, look into some good engineering schools. Some good schools for that are the university of Michigan, UC-Berkley, UCLA. There are also a lot of koreans in those schools, if you find that important.(there are literally thousands of koreans in michigan). and USC should have a HUGE korean population as well.

lol..................

^^^hahah just notice that...

anyways if you achieve the SAT scores your hoping for i think you will be in at all the schools you listed. You are a very competitive applicant for all schools.

Admit rates are useless without considering stats and the number of applicants. According to IPEDS, only Harvard has higher test scores in all three areas than Duke.

The College of the Ozarks has an admit rate of 12%, but I would hardly consider it more selective than Dartmouth.

I thought Rice is one of the more competitive universities...

poor asian applying to uchicago without aid...huh

you're in at emory

1) U Chicago | match
2) William and Mary | in
3) Univ of Southern California | in
4) Pomona | not sure
5) NYU | in except maybe stein
6) Duke | reach
7) Rice |safety
8) Emory | dunno

Northwestern | match
