Chances for a Rising Senior Please!

<p>Hi! I'm done with my junior year and the SATs, so a chance thread seems like the natural thing to do now. I’m a Caucasian female at a private girl’s school in New York State. I am currently a rising senior, and I’d like to know if my prospective college list fits my GPA, SAT scores, etc.</p>

<p>Colleges:
1st choice: Brown (ED, maybe?)
the rest:
Williams
University of Rochester
Johns Hopkins
Tufts
Cornell (legacy)</p>

<p>GPA:
• 9-11th grade: 96.5% (weighted)
• There is an obvious trend of improvement: as a freshman, my GPA was a 93, as a junior it is a 99
• School does not officially rank, but I am in the top 15% at least.
Course Load:
• Hardest possible
• APs:
Sophomore Year
European History (3, I was having a bad day)
Junior Year
American History
Calculus AB
English Language
Senior Year
Biology
English Literature
Calculus BC
Government and Politics
SATs
1st time: 710 CR, 710 Math, 720 Writing
2nd time: 800 CR, 720 Math, 680 Writing
Composite: 1520/2240
• SAT IIs: Math II (720), US History (710)
ECs
• I am a cellist, so:
o All-County Orchestra
o All-State Orchestra
o School Quartet
o Playing for 11 years
o School Orchestra
o School Musical
• Secretary of National Honor Society
• Member of Model UN
• Math and science tutor
• Soccer
o Both for school and club teams
• One year of track
• Volunteer at local Children’s Hospital
• A possible internship at a local hospital
Recognition:
Excellence in Math (9,10,11th)
National Merit Commended Scholar
Williams Book Award
Other stuff:
• My counselor loves me, along with my teachers, so I think recommendations will be good.
• I’m a fairly decent writer, and the current draft of my essay talks about my volunteering with dialysis patients (a possible ‘hook’?)
• My PSAT scores were 212 (99th percentile), which probably makes me a Commended Scholar, but a slim chance at Semi-Finalist status.
Oh, and I am making a recording of a cello solo.</p>

<p>Thanks for your help! And any other college suggestions are welcomed!</p>

<p>Brown (ED, maybe?) - reach
Williams (not familiar) - reach
University of Rochester (not familiar) - match
Johns Hopkins - reach/match
Tufts - low reach
Cornell (legacy) - low reach/match </p>

<p>Just guessing</p>

<p>Hm... if you want to clarify your college list a bit (you have a few "not familiar" tags on them), you should consider the setting (urban/suburban/rural). Check out the Princeton Review, which lists its location ("college town"). </p>

<p>Brown (ED, maybe) - reach
Williams - reach
Johns Hopkins -low reach/high match
Tufts - Don't know much about it, sorry.
Cornell - low reach/high match.
University of Rochester - low match/high safety</p>

<p>Those not familiar tags aren't mine...</p>
