-Varsity cross country since 9th.
-Key Club (VP in 11th)

-Volunteering at nursing home, humane society (50 hours+)
-Work at local candy store (haha), and theme park this summer
-Summer camp in New Hampshire for 7 weeks, last 5 summers

I'm a white male, no alumni relation, and I would be applying to the college of Arts and Sciences (Weinberg) in regular decision.

Chances? =)

Bump.... =)

you have better stats than me, and i got in. hope that makes you feel better lol

my knowledge of the admissions process is very slim but i'll give my opinion.

there's nothing that really stands out to me. you've got above average test scores but not by much (i think 75% is 1480 off the top of my head). you've got good grades but not enough to put you in the 'definitely yes' pile. i know how much time two varsity sports takes (i'm in 3) so i'll say you have solid EC's. if i had to guess, i'd say waitlist accept.

who knows though. there's not a whole lot of information there. you might right an great essay, get amazing recs, and prove me completely wrong.

Thanks for the advice,

token-I understand where you're coming from completely. I hopefully can write a great essay, and I think my teacher recs may be good. There are also some more minor ECs that I'm not listing, as well as awards.

ya i understand. i didn't put all my stuff in there when i did chance threads a while back, so it looked like i didn't have alot. i'm sure you have some more awards and EC's but i warn you against putting those minor EC's in your resume. unless you really have a passion for them, they might just clutter up your application and take away from the main point. good luck though. if i had to make a decision right now (safety, match, reach), i'd say slight reach-match.

lol

write your essay about your summer camp, or volunteering maybe or something, i feel like an essay about your summer camp especially would be interesting to read, especially in the winter when adcoms are sitting inside closed doors.

Thanks for the advice guys!
I wrote a 'practice essay' about my summer camp but it just seemed really cliche. We'll see though., =)

if northwestern is your first choice, it will show through your application and essays. the admissions people will notice it, and you'll have a good shot. you considering ED?

Northwestern is definately up there for me, but I also really want to apply EA/Rolling to some schools (BC, UMich, JMU, PSU). Also, I don't know if I'll be able to visit before the deadline. I don't live within driving distance, but I hope my parents would be willing to take me for a weekend or something this summer.

......Bump..

My full list so far: Northwestern, UVA, UMich, BC, GTown, Vandy, JMU, PSU

good list. what's jmu?

james madison university. THE university of virginia

lol, do you have something against UVA/W&M/VTech?

^^ no, i just heard that was a running joke at JMU, like people wear t-shirts that say "James Madison University - THE University of Virginia" on them

oooh haha i've never heard of that
