Chances for a Semi Average Student

Alright.

I am a white, middle class male from Massachusetts.

ACT = 26
SAT = 1690 (yuck)

GPA= 3.67 weighted
I have taken all honors courses, with 3 AP courses. (Psychology, Statistics, and US History)
Top 20% of Class of 275

I will graduate with a total of 8 varsity letters, however, i’m not planning on participating in varsity sports in college.

My EC’s aren’t too strong, due to the fact that most of my week is spent playing sports. I am in the key club and have volunteered, but EC’s aren’t my selling point.

My essays are going to be fantastic, and hopefully my reccomendations will follow suit.

I plan on majoring in Business, and hopefully end up going to law school.

Could you please identify 1. Safeties 2. Matches 3. Reaches

1.Bentley College (EA)(with
interview)

2.Bryant University

3.University of Vermont (EA)

4.University of Maine (Legacy)

5.Northeastern University

University of Colorado at Boulder (EA)

Any other colleges you feel match my interests, please post.

Thank you very much for your time.

-Tom

hmm... I seem to be the one user who never gets responses. Oh well.

anyone? I'm really looking for advice

In my opinion, you have a very realistic list and I would think you will find a lot of acceptance letters.

thanks northeastmom....can somebody please identify matches, safeties, and reaches?

To try to pin it down better, it would help to break your sat scores down.

okay....sat scores = CR=560 MATH=580 Writing = 550

I know I have answered these before, but from what I know now:
1. Bentley- match/ low reach
2. Bryant- match/safety
3. Northeastern-match/ reach / if I remember you are from Ma (if so more of a reach)
4. U of Maine- match/safety
5. U of Colorado-match

Forgot your favorite, how did I do that to you?
U of Vermont-match (I think you'll get in bcs they have a high acceptance rate).

speaking as a resident of colorado, your a shoe in at cu boulder (though im not sure you would want to pay such high out of state tuition for a mediocore school)

more opinions please

........................................

You could afford to add some more prestigious schools ie maybe Babson, BU, Skidmore...

anyone else?

What is your unweighted academic GPA? That's big compared to your test scores.

any other opinions?

............

the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities would be a good match

University of Indiana has a good biz school. I don't know about skiing there or how important it is to you. Might also check out Buffalo NY if you want the cold (Canisius, Suny Buffalo).
