THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

Safties: JMU, Mary Washington

Please can I have some serious responses.

I know for a fact that with your grades, the min equivalent of 1800/2400 SAT and if you are a recruited athlete (a tip)
you will have no problem getting in many fine schools --Tufts, Conn College, Bates, Bowdoin,Colby, but you have to be willing to use your sport to your advantage and play in colllege

You should contact coaches at the schools you are interested in and see what their interest is in you.

Any chance of getting in without playing sports? At least 6-7 people seem to get into UVa from my school every year, and i feel that my stats are a lot better. I just feel that im already going to have enough stress in college, so i dont want the added stress of sports (something ive been dealing with my entire life).

If the coach wants him at any of these schools, he is more than qualified. I know kids with 2.8-2.9 GPAs with 1200/1600 SATs that are going to Bowdoin, Colby, Trinity etc. They were highly recruited athletes--hockey, baseball, football

With coach support, he will get in--no problem

If you find sports stressful, then perhaps you should not play in college
In my son's case, sports has been a great stress relief for him, helps him stay very busy and organize his time effectively. He has learned to make good use of his free time when he is not practicing, working out or playing one of his sports

Your SATs will be a problem at WashU and Tufts if you're not recruited. Don't know about UVA. If you have a chance of being recruited (DIII maybe), you'll get into a great college. You could play for a year and see how it goes. If you post your times, there are lots here who can say if you're recruitable.

if you wont be playing in college, you've lost some ground in admissions. i know that D-1 schools are very overwhelming and time consuming, but D-3 is much more low key and less stressful. check out the nescac schools.

Might want to look at Holy Cross. HC has a solid soccer program with new facility and the school's Classics/Latin program is highly ranked. Location is good-1 hour from Boston.

I don't usually reply to chances posts but I think you have a good chance to go to many of these. I would maybe try to find some schools in between those you listed and your safeties. I agree that you should contact the coaches and if they're a dIII school (like washu or tufts) you are actually can use the sports to your advantage to get in but if you decide not to play for a year, they can't make you. For example, a friend if mine was recruited to play softball at wellesley but ended up trying out to row and didn't play softball. Same thing with my friend going to vassar, recruited to play then quit playing her senior year and in college. Honestly the coaches would rather have you not play than burn out. Also, study for SATs.
So I would say:
Reach: Washu U
Tufts
Lower Reach- UVA
Match-???
Safties- The two you listed.

Maybe you should look at some schools like Vassar, Holy Cross, maybe Hamilton (but vassar and hamilton might add to your reach list).
Anyhow.. good luck

meaning the people in my school are too stupid to pass the state issued exams at the state's standard.

i think your first issue should be this, and even if you were kidding, you shouldn't be putting down your fellow classmates
