What do you think? Any chance?

I'm guessing you'll get in. Last year, the average transfer GPA was a 1270 with a 3.5. But since I'm applying and less competitive, perhaps you shouldn't apply.

haha...thanks for the advice...im sure you'll get in buddy. no worries.

Actually I had a similar question. I'm a transfer student but I have some odd circumstances. I was a freshman at BU last year and due to some extenuating circumstances, I did not perform up to par and ended up having to transfer out. There were a number of problems I had during the course of freshman year that led to me not having the grades I wanted. As a transfer student, I will be submitting my high school grades as well as my grades from BU and Johnson and Wales, where I am now. All information will be on the app togetehr. Do you think I have a chance given the stats I have listed of getting back into my beloved BU?

In the BU supplement, they allow you to state anything additional that you would like BU to know. What I am going to tell them is that certain extenuating circumstances took a great psychological tole on me during the course of the year. For the purpose of privacy, I won't list those circumstances here but I promise you that they are substantial. Also, my financial situation at the time mandated that I work after class to help pay my school fees. This greatly affected my schoolwork as well. At J&W, these psychological circumstances are long gone and my financial situation has greatly changed as well.
I no longer need to work to support myself and I can focus on my schoolwork solely. I will state how this is evidenced by my strong Johnson and Wales grades and the numerous awards and honors I have been given and how I am ready to step back into BU and shine there just like I know I can. Do you think my circumstances will prevent me from gaining acceptance in BU once again? or do you think I have a strong case to make it back in? Thanks for the help.

If it is of any importance, I am Argentinian American. Also, I forgot to list out all my volunteer work so I will put that here.

Skinnyfist,
Is that the transfer GPA/SAT average for all BU four year colleges or does it include CGS which would explain why its lower than the regular admssions averages?

That is the transfer average for all schools that accept transfer applicants (CAS, COM, UNI, SMG). BU does not allow people to transfer into CGS. It's lower because BU takes over 700 students a year, which is A LOT for a school of its caliber.

If anyone could help me out or just drop an opinion, it would mean alot to me. I'm very unhappy here at Johnson and Wales and am doing everything I can to get back into BU. I just want to make sure I'm not pinning my hopes on something that isn't going to happen. Obviously, the opinions of a few people on this forum don't dictate the decisions of the admissions board, but I'd just like to get an idea.

DR, I think your chances are good since your SAT and GPA are above the transfer average. Just try and get a lot of input when editing your paragraph about what happened Freshman yr and what is different now. BU wants students to be a good fit and successful there so its all about how you explain your current situation and committment. Is it CAS?

Well I used to be in CAS but I would be transferring into SHA if I can get back in. Yeah, the explanation paragraph will need to be the strongest part because that will be in essence the decisionmaker section. By the way, since I wrote my stats down last time, I received by grades for the first trimester at Johnson and Wales, and with an A+ and 3 A's, my GPA was at 3.9 just about. Hope these stats show my improvement to those admissions people.
