Chances for a transfer

Ready for a life story? OK!

2008-2012: Went to a nationally recognized boarding school where I had a 3.76 GPA, 2020 SAT and 30 ACT. My course load was an above-average difficulty with 1 honors and four AP classes (received a 5 on each one). My extra curriculars were quite good - writing center tutor, NHS, Varsity sports, volunteering, organized a very successful fundraiser my senior year. I had dreams of going to an admissions-competitive small school and applied to several. Of 13 schools, I got into 12. Unfortunately I made my college decision based on a career goal I no longer have and went to a large public research university.

2012-2013: Spent my freshman year at large public university(Which was not UT Knoxville-contrary to my username). HATED IT. Everything from the student body to the academics to the weather was so far from what I had wanted. Decided to transfer. My first choice was the University of Richmond. I was wait listed. I did not apply to many schools as I was optimistic about UR. I decided to attend another small school in Virginia.

Now: Here I am at almost the end of the semester and I just came home after the worst few months of my life. I tried VERY hard to settle into the school I transferred to, but for a number of reasons, I could not be happy there. I have been struggling with severe depression for a lot of my life and it has been at it's worst since I began the transfer process. Nearly unable to function, I made the exec decision that I needed to take a year off. I am able to return to this college if I choose to, but I am going to apply to other schools just in case. & I am going to maximize my options and not make the same mistake twice of settling on a school.

There are a couple questions in this post - What should I do with my gap year until the Fall of 2014? Can I do anything that will look good on a transfer app?

My GPA for my freshman year was between a 3.25-3.6 (trying to get the exact figure, I will post later when I find it). Anyone have any school recommendations I can check out?

Would I be better off forgetting my Fr. year and applying as a Freshman who took two years off?

Here are schools I applying to/thinking of, so chance me:
-Elon
-Wofford
-William & Mary
-Furman
-Wake Forest
-High Point
-Washington & Lee
-U of Richmond (I would do ANYTHING to get in here)

bump!!!

I think you will get into all of them except maybe Wake Forest but even then you have a good shot. Your decision will be based off your college transcripts as well as your high school stats. Best of luck!
