bump..please

Push your EC's as far as you can, IMO, they're solid. You're grades look solid, but that B in 8th grade might not be as bad as it looks. Showing initiative and all that. Your senior schedule looks good. I'd say Hopkins is a reach, as is Gtown, Cornell is low reach/high match, and everything else looks good. Good luck.

^^How is Hopkins a reach and Cornell a low reach/high match for the OP?

I just always thought Hopkins was harder to get into than Cornell. Oh well, I could very well be wrong.

What about W&L, BC, and UVa (theyre probably my top three choices).?

They are all solid matches for you.

i agree with the above poster, but i would try to raise your SATs just to solidify your chances!! (im a fellow VAer and im looking at UVA too)

ehh..i just decided to drop my AP Pysch class because after a week of school, I'm finding that it will be almost impossible to keep up with my ECs while maintaing good grades with 5 APs.

That will push my senior schedule to 4 APs..my GPA will only end up to be about a 4.16 at the end of the year and I think I might drop a place in rank to 6/324.

Will this have an affect on my chances? I know I sound retarded but I just want to be sure.

no, that won't hurt your chances. just remember that colleges like to see that youre taking the hardest possible courseload! but your schedule is pretty solid so i wouldnt worry about it. but do you have 2 study halls now? you might what toreplace pysch with an elective that interests you.

Yeah I'm going to try to fill in my opened class with an advanced type class. I'm thinking Latin III (I took Latin I and II already) or maybe another science class.

Its just the AP Psych class required like 2 hours homework/night and with my schedule of work and sports, it just wouldnt fit in.

W&L - visit, call, write -- demonstrate that interest! Assuming that you are already in touch with coach. When you go for fall recruiting visit, schedule an on campus interview. And schedule another interview w/ your local W&L alum if possible. Go ahead and get that app in as early as you can. Go Generals!

And don't obsess about your schedule -- that's plenty of APs - just do well at everything you put on your plate. And don't forget to take your SAT IIs.
