My D is pretty enthused about applying to Whitman. I'm wondering what experts may think of her chances, and whether applying ED would increase the probability of acceptance.
She has a 3.8/4.2 GPA, has hovered slightly above 1800 on her SAT practice tests, and we're hoping to improve this; she has volunteered for 240 hours at a Med Center in Trauma Nursing, and holds leadership positions in Italian, Muslim Student Assn, and is involved in Acadeca. She attends a pretty competitive all girls Catholic School; her in class rank is between top 15-20%..
We plan to visit this spring and interview early. I know these threads are pretty silly; please provide any opinions that you may have a free moment to share. Thank you so much.

cecilturtle, everyone hates to make guesses about chances, there are so many variables involved that it’s impossible to make any predictions. Your daughter sounds like she’s well-rounded and involved, Whitman loves those traits. Her SAT score is at the low end of accepted students scores, so bringing those up will really help. The acceptance rate for ED applicants is a higher percentage than for RD, so I think that does give a boost to those who know Whitman is their first choice. Best wishes to your daughter in her college search.

Bopambo, thank you; that was very kind and encouraging.
