test scores are a little low... that may put him at a slight disadvantage.. see if he can bring that up because his grade percentage is good, but maybe not high enough to make up for his test scores.

EC's are okay.. but what are some leadership positions he has? CMC looks for leadership... I'm a freshman.. and a lot of the people in my class were presidents/leaders of something, that could make it competitive.

Essays are also going to be really important because it determines if he will really fit in at CMC. I know the Dean and he looks very closely at the application because he remembers people by their application. Your son will need to stand out somehow in a good way. Luckily.. CMC Essays are pretty fun, despite the huge load.

I'm not sure how much your major choice factors in... but try to have a plan about that.

If your son is very personable and interviews well.. MAKE SURE YOU GET HIM A INTERVIEW. I personally feel that the interview is pretty helpful (at least it seemed to have been for me). My grades weren't that good at all, SAT was 2160, I had some good leadership stuff, but truthfully people with my grades wouldn't usually get in. It had to be the interview and the essays.

Hope this was helpful! :)
