Chances for addmission into the Fisher School of Accounting?

I originally posted this in the what are my chances forum but since most AICPA accredited accounting programs are the same and UF is a top accounting program anyway I've decided to go here for free. Plus you guys can answer this a lot better than anypone else.

What are my chances getting into FSOA?:

I hope making a separate but similar thread isn't against the rules.

Thanks

If you go to a state school in Florida right now I would say your chances are excellent.

I’m starting the 5th year in the 3/2 program in the FSOA. First I would like to give you fair warning that accounting is very hard, very boring, and I guarantee that at points you will question your decision to enter the field. When I first started my real accounting classes in my 3rd year at UF, I heard that the classes were really hard because they want to weed people out and that it will be much easier soon. It turned out that the past 2 years have been very hard and only now are classes getting easier. More than half of the friends I made in my first accounting class have dropped out of accounting at UF or have transferred to another school.

Now if you still are interested after that, I would say you have pretty good chances of getting in to UF, with the most important factor being if you live in Florida right now. And it is not really a question of “getting into FSOA,” it is just getting into UF that you have to do. Once you are in, you can change your major to whatever you want. I just felt like doing accounting because I was running out of time to choose a major, so I just switched majors and that was that. All UF students can be in FSOA and take classes, it is just a matter if you can pass each round of weed out classes.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah I finally found the statistics I was looking for in terms of GPA and test scores of those admitted straight to FSOA and I’m competitive to get in.

GatorAccountant, I definitely do not underestimate how challenging accounting programs are in general, but I believe it’s something I can handle as long as I put forth the effort. Now the question is whether or not I can get into UT@Austin–my reach school.

Thanks everyone again
