Chances for Admission (and then some)

Skip out of Calc not Bio. For bio I can tell you now you don't know half the stuff they will teach you. A friend of mine took AP, and didn't know half the sutff we did because it was never covered in high school. Plus the bio teachers are really good especially Abbott for Biol 107. Sure you will also have to take Biol 108 which is plants/animals and that might suck but it'll end up being worth it.

How about chemistry and physics?

Oh also I passed the ap exam for lang, so how are the english literature classes? I believe they are listed as e117.

Well you need engl 110 or 111 to graduate, I dunno if you can AP outta them. Chem and physics I wouldn't skip, although I would probably just use the credit if you got a 4 or a 5 and just sit in on the class. Chem at UCONN is VERRRRRRY hard, and known for decimating GPAs, everyone who has gone through the gen chem series knows this. Physics is a crapshoot though, sometimes easy sometimes hard.

How is english 117? Do you mainly read the literature, and respond to the literature in terms of symbols and such? Or do you describe the author's motivation in using the language? By this I mean do you describe how a text was given more meaning by a comma, or a colon, a synecdoche and such.

Never heard of engl 117 sorry. In 110 and 111 you read short non-fiction stories usually and write about them. In 110 the focus is more on the writing so you read less stories and the teacher usually tells you what you need to do to fix your essays. In 111 it more of a literature focus and less on writing. But its up to the teacher what you discuss. But dont expect it to be like high school where the teacher spoon feeds you info. Here they say what they want and thats really it. In general you usually don't discusss grammar in low level classes, since you are expected to know it.

Oh so it is split into sets like the ap exam is. This means that e110 is ap english language while e111 is like ap literature.

Basically although they call 110 academic writing

Okaaay, I'm confused yet again. UConn says they need at least 16 courses at the end of high school, including 3 electives. I'll be having around 25, but I've only got one elective, which was Art. The other courses were mandatory for me. Does this mean I can't apply?
