I'm a current Cornell student (and very bored at work right now, which is why I've started answering messages on these boards. haha). So basically, you are probably a qualified applicant-- there are plenty of students here that are similar to you. But as some advice for you and anybody else applying to Cornell, admissions are pretty random. I applied a few years ago, but as a demonstration of the randomness, here are some of the statistics of a few of my friends who applied the same year as me (so the SATs are still out of 1600):

Student A: High SAT scores (low 1500s), good grades, ok extracurriculars- waitlisted (and not accepted)

Student B: Good SAT scores (low 1400s), good grades, amazing extracurriculars (national level leadership)- waitlisted too (and not accepted)

Student C: Ok SAT scores (low 1300s), amazing extracurriculars (national level leadership), good grades, legacy- given a guaranteed transfer

Student D: Applied a year after me. SAT scores close to 1500, good grades, ok extracurriculars- rejected from Human Ecology

Me: Applied early decision, 1st in my class, SAT scores in the mid-1400s. Good extracurriculars and leadership, but nothing amazing and nothing on a national level.

Why was I accepted and not the others? Beats me. They were all pretty qualified, and Student B was probably much more qualified than I was. And there are tons of students here with fewer qualifications than the people that I just listed. Early decision definitely helps though, if that's an option for you.
