I think i have good chances, but i really am not sure, apparently its much more competitive than i had thought...

you would need to make your resume very impressive, and try explaining in detail different things that you do..good grades and scores

yeah it's ridiculous to get in from out of state
but the average SAT for oos is 1390, i think, so you're above average in that
i'm applying there next year oos and i'm totally nervous about it- even now!
i'm a legacy though

anyway, good luck with everything!

looks good but 7 RECOMMENDATIONS?! holy god...

Hey looks good I guess, but just a lil tip...
NOT SO MANY RECS!!

1 you will seem over-eager to prove yourself--your achievements should do that for you

2 they don't want to read 7 recs and might even subconsciously punish you for it

In short...BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :0)

well to clarify, im in state

also about the reccomendations---i could not stop the teachers from doing it, i actually only asked one...and they are all really well written good things...guy from admissions said that the only drawback is that they may not fully read all of them, but whichever ones they do read, represent me well...so im not worried in that aspect---its my grades im a little bit worried about..i have 2 C's on my transcript and that scares me..

well, if you're in-state, you're like...90% in.
but who really knows?

Does anyone know about SAT II's and Carolina?

I would say definitely in...I hope or I'm not gonna get in (instate) either, lol.

I would say avoid sending all 7 recommendations, if you can at all. I remember from the admissions session that they emphasized not sending any more than 2 or 3 at most.

Here's two links about SAT IIs:

http://admissions.unc.edu/academics/placement.htm

http://newstudents.unc.edu/academics/placement.html

They're mostly used for placement, although they probably will consider them if you did well on them.

thanks for the links, i appreciate it. On the admissions site, it gives different opinions on the SAT II. I read that you dont have to take it if you do well on the AP Stats exam (i got a 3) and that you are automatically placed into calc. I'm wary about this SAT II Math because it looks really hard. The other SAT II i took in US history was pretty darn easy.
