You’re in for sure, doubtful for Honors. SAT is too low and GPA is low. Maybe Capstone. You never know though, give the Honors application a shot! Even if you don’t get in, if you come to USC and still want to join the Honors College, you can apply at the end of your freshman year.

You will definitely make it into USC. It is somewhat hesitant as to whether you’ll make it into the Honors College though. The Honors College has a lot higher standards than the University itself. Your SAT scores seem to be pretty good, but your GPA is going to be the killer. Also, since you are out of state, your chances to get into the Honors College are lower. You should make it into Capstone scholars if you don’t make the Honors College cut. Try taking the ACT or the SAT again to raise your score to combat with your lower GPA.

The mid-range of scores–between 25% and 75% of all scores–for the 2009 Freshman class was between 1350 and 1440 (SAT critical reading and math) and between 31 and 33 on the ACT. The average weighted GPA was 4.55. Higher SAT or ACT scores can offset lower grades vice versa.

The honors college is very competetive.

Your EC’s look good, and you have a great chance at acceptance to the university, but I don’t think you have a chance for honors. Not sure about capstone, but being part of capstone won’t get you into the smaller honors classes.

You can always excel first semester of Freshman year and apply to the honors college for the Spring semester. They generally only take a few students during this time, but there aren’t usually that many students who apply.

But I wouldn’t bother if you don’t have a 4.0 after the first and second semester. Starting late in the honors college will also put you behind in getting all of the requirements to graduate from the honors college.

^ I didn’t have a 4.0 and neither did any of my friends that transferred in. I had close to it but not a 4.0. Also the Honors College works with you to help make sure you catch up on the requirements.
