Any info or help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

your stats sound almost exactly like mine.
I sure hope you get in :P
from what I've heard, you should be in but merit scholarships are a whole different league.

Depending on where you live in TX, Vandy does have a few merit scholarship specifically for students who reside in certain counties. You would need to contact the finaid office to see if you qualify.
I think in order to be eligible for those scholarships as well as some of their Top Tenn scholarships(Tennessee residents only) you will still have to complete the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship application regardless. You overall SAT very closely match my D and I am certain hers are not high enough for the Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship as they need to be over 1500/1600. Both D and you are 1470.
I would still apply for the other signature scholarships though.
Congratulations on all of your outstanding achievements with a difficult chronic disease ( I am also a type 1 diabetic and have been since age 12).
I am sure your parents are bit anxious about you going so far from home, but tell them that you would have immediate access to superior health care if you needed it!

4.0 gpa and a two on ap calc....wow, that suggests some SERIOUS grade inflation (not to mention a class rank of 22 with a 4.0??) You have a very good shot of getting accepted, but to be honest your sat scores are not high enough for a full ride. However, vandy gives great partial fin aid to anyone who qualifies (i.e. whose parents have a low income).

Haha, yeah some grade inflation in Calculus. I made a 98 the entire year. Interesting isn't it? My school does its rankings off the weighted scale and in order to be higher than I am, you have to be in the band and never play any sports.
wow your school must have serious GPA inflation..... a 4.0 at 22 class rank? I'm ranked 7 and i have a 3.8333
I have a 4.0 and a 5.4 weighted (94 avg in all advanced classes) and Im ranked 26th. I would say i just go to a difficult school, considering 5 kids in my class scored a 2400 on their sat's.

What do you mean you go to a "difficult school" if you have a 4.0 at a class rank of 26?Wouldn't it seem that your school is hard if your GPA was less than a 4.0 but your still ranked high (1-10)? Your school must also have major grade inflation (Grade Inflation=Easier School)
rfw where do you go to school in TX?

Its is hard to quantify how difficult a school is. I could have a 4.0 and be ranked 26/600 because of grade inflation, or I could have a 4.0 and be ranked 26/600 because there are tons of very smart kids at my school. Or there could be a combination.
This is why admissions counselors know the reputation of each school and look at class rank as well as standardized test scores. If I had to guess, the SAT range for our top 5% is 1450-1600 /1600. This leads me to believe I go to a very competitive school.

Well considering that this thread is not about modernchem justifying his own class rank/gpa worries or imbored10 making you feel worse about your stats, I would say to the op that your scores and gpa are above the average accepted student and that your good ecs will probably get you in. From what i've read the typical student who earns the merit scholarships is in the top 1-2% of their graduating class and has 1500+ SAT. Obviously you've worked tremendously hard and there isn't much more you could have done to present yourself as a better applicant, so I would definitely apply for the merit scholarships. Goodluck!

iambored10- I go to a public school in Tarrant county. I don't exactly want to give out the name all over the internet.

But to explain my school's grade inflation... there was some in Calculus, but that was just because my teacher didn't teach to the AP test. So when I took the AP test my grade was dismal even though I made straight A+s in his class. Also, even though I have a 4.0 Unweighted doesn't mean it translates to a high Weighted GPA. I took prerequisite electives that weren't honors (journalism prereq for yearbook), so my weighted GPA is low (4.75). The valedictorian has a weighted GPA of 4.92 because he never took any sports (which are weighted as non-honors) and played in the band (which is given honors credit). I hope that clears that up. But then again it is midnight so it might not. haha.

Can someone post me the link for the scholarship application page? I just keep going around in circles trying to find it. Is it online or like a PDF?

your school includes non-academic courses in the weighted GPA? yikes!
definitely apply for scholarships then and make sure they know your situation.
good luck
