3.5 GPA is your WEIGHTED GPA? What’s your unweighted GPA?

Low GPA for GWU-- that’s low for here, even if it as UNweighted at 3.5
Good SAT-- doesn’t seem to match GPA. Are you sure that’s a WEIGHTED GPA?
SAT score will help a good bit here.
Few extracurricular leadership roles compared to some students-- only a member in most
Varsity cheer-- that’s a plus
Summer jobs-- that’s a plus, shows motivation
School paper editor-- another plus

What state? What race? Parental alumni? First generation student? Any hooks?

I suggest applying with that SAT, but also applying to safety schools with that GPA.
There’s a chance, though I wouldn’t count on it. Apply here and to safety schools.
I would call GWU and Boston U that you’re interested in “reaches,” but… maybe.

Who can say? Just apply and see. She is applying to other schools, so what if GWU rejects her. However, if your D really wants GWU she should apply. There are no certainties in life. In this situation, your D will not attend GWU, if she doesn’t apply. Good Luck.

BTW in response to the comment regarding the GPA, all GPA s are not created equally. There are 4.0 students who are not strong as some 2.5 students coming from rigorous schools. Admissions considers this and that is why school profiles are submitted with the application package. Also, your D essays will be significant in this situation as well as an interview.

3.5 was my weighted GPA and I got in with a MUCH lower SUPERSCORED SAT (also rigorous catholic school) and much less EC’s. make sure the essay rocks though and try for an interview. if you can’t email the regional director and show some interest.
