Chances for Admission?

Hello,

I'm planning on applying to MIT and Caltech this year, but I don't even know if I have a chance of getting in. I'm not deadset on there (and have a couple of safety schools) but I've visited both and was very impressed.

Here are some of my stats:

GPA: 3.83 nonweighted (self-calculated). My school uses a weighted GPA scale though, which puts me in the top 3%. (Over 90% of my classes have been pre-AP or AP, which are weighted). My B's are almost exclusively from 9th grade, where I severely slacked off. I've gotten a couple of B's though my sophomore and junior years.

Tests:

SAT I - 2230
(I am taking the October SAT II's - hoping for straight 800s in math IIC, chemistry, and physics.)

AP Test Scores:
Calculus BC - 5
Physics C Mechanics - 5
Physics C E&M - 4
Chemistry - 5
World History - 4

(I've taken a couple of other ones but I will be withholding their scores I think since I got 3's on them.)

I'm also a national merit semifinalist, and senior class VP. Almost all of my volunteering is done at my church or through the food bank or through donating blood - not very much though. My school-related EC's are almost all math and science related (except student council). I'm also a white male.

Currently taking: A couple of junior-level classes in math and science at the local university, and all of my classes at high school are AP.

Basically, I'm worried if my mediocre GPA (in my opinion) and somewhat low amount of volunteering will destroy any chances I have of getting into either of those places. Any insight from the gurus here? :) I also wouldn't mind suggestions of other places to apply as well that are extremely good at physics.

Anyone have any thoughts?
