Chances for admittance to Berkeley

-Hey everybody - I posted this in the chances forum as well as this, but I thought being in the Berkeley specific thread might get some responses.

-I am a CA resident, so I only applied to UC schools as they are much less expensive than other universities would be for me.

-Anyway, as the title says, I am wondering about my chances for getting into UC Berkeley. My dream right now is to go to the Haas School of Business at Berkeley...anyway...here it goes....

Oh yah, white male, middle income = /

SAT 1:
-Verbal = 800
-Math = 720
-Writing = 760 (10 on essay)

SAT 2:
-Biology(M) = 800
-USHistory = 780
-Math 2C = 680 (Ouch!)

Classes:
-Frosh - AP World History(A/A, 5)
-Soph. - AP Spanish(B/B, 3) - AP Euro(A/A, 5) - AP Bio(B/A, 5)
-Junior - AP USHistory(A/A, 5) - AP Chem.(A/A, 5) - AP Eng.Lang.(A/A, 5) - Math 150-151(College Level Calculus...A/A)
-Senior - AP Psych(?) - AP Stats(?) - AP EngLit(?) ---(I'm sure A's in all and 5's.)

Weighted GPA from Soph. and Junior years = 4.33 which is only rank 21 at my school out of about 400 seniors....very competitive public high school.

Extra-Curricular:
-4 years Football - 2 year letterman and starter
-2 years Track - 2 year letterman
-6 years Boy Scouts of America - Eagle Scout + Patrol Leader(Lead to Honor Patrol Award) +Junior Assistant Scout Master + 3 Religious Medals for Catholic Faith + hundreds of hours of community service.
-Co-Founder of Young Democrats, 1 year - Vice-President.
-2 years Academic League
-4 years Math Team/Club

Work Experience:
-Summer at Pacific Theaters - Usher
-2 years for local DJ company - Roadie/Lights and Sound Technician

-I'm a fairly good writer, so I'm pretty confident about my essays.

-If I forget anything important, let me know and I will do my best to add/clarify - thanks for your help!!!

Oh, and to give everyone an idea of how competitive the public school I go to is:
-3 Students this year into Stanford ED/EA
-3 Students into Harvard ED/EA
-2 Yale ED/EA
-1 Princeton ED/EA
- Lots of others I don't know...
-Always 4 to 6 that go to Berkeley every year, I'm sure many more get in.

And if this helps, I am applying to the Economics major(even though I would like to transfer to Haas after Sophomore year.)

I'm not a Cal resident so i'm pretty bad at guessing these things but my guess is that your pretty much in!

Thanks for the positive reply!

I have heard though that, fairly frequently, people from my school have been accepted to Harvard/Yale/Cornell/Princeton etc but not to UCB or UCLA, so any other opinions are welcome.

Wow....seriously????? That's kinda wierd.....guess the University of WA works very differently.....I still think you have a good chance though.

Thanks for your reply chloecat! Just wierdness that I've heard of with the UC application process...with no letters of recommendation and all of that.

-Can any UC Berkeley students give me their take on the Berkeley application process and my chances???
-Any non-UC Berkeley student opinions are always welcome, Thanks!

Your calling a 680 on the math IIc "ouch," calling your rank "only 21 [out of 400]," and the rest of your information indicate that you're probalby going to get in, and also get into Haas later. As long as you took the application seriously, I think you're in. Don't slack off while here or you won't get into Haas.

Thanks for your insight DRab.

You're welcome- here to help.

"people from my school have been accepted to Harvard/Yale/Cornell/Princeton etc but not to UCB or UCLA, so any other opinions are welcome."

its the complete opposite for my school. last year 1 person went to harvard and yale and 2 people went to cornell and princeton while 26 people went to cal and 29 went to ucla out of a class of 350. ur probably in to cal.

has anyone every applied to Berkeley from your school??

_____"-Always 4 to 6 that go to Berkeley every year, I'm sure many more get in."_________

Yah. Does that mean they would respect my high school more because we have sent students before?

I think lots of kids apply to Berkeley and get in but choose to go elsewhere - Ivy's etc.

You sound like you have a good chance of getting into Berkeley! Good ECs.
