Chances for Amherst as a Transfer

Community College GPA: 3.93

ECs: Forensics, Mock Trial, Student Government and 70+ hours a month of community service

No SAT's.

Latino student from a really poor family who had to struggle a lot to do well in school which I think I'll write a killer essay about.

Chances for Amherst as a transfer?

as good a shot as anyone else probably

depends on how much room they have as a result of how big their freshman class is I think...last year I got waitlisted and they took only 12 people or something. transferring is ridiculous, apply to plenty of schools.

When will the stats as to how many seats are available to transfers be released or when can I see last year's?

The 2006 transfer thread's percentage is still small but, statisticsally, I think you are in a good position. Just try to be as personable and learned in your app essays as you can be, in order to appeal to the admissions committee.

Will the lack of SAT's hurt me?

not really, a little if at all, i cant speak for amherst but its peers (like bowdoin) dont require them for hs freshman so "it shouldnt hurt"
