<p>I am a senior at a large public high schoolin central Missouri. I adore Amherst College and really hope to get in. What do you all think my chances are? I'd be glad to chance you back.
GPA: 4.0 (unweighted; all classes, grade 9 to present)
Rank: our school doesn't rank, but I am in contention for valedictorian so far
Challenging classes: 7 AP's, 9 Honors, and Multivariable Calculus at local university
(we can not take AP's in 9th grade and can only take 1 in 10th)
ACT: 34 on 2 sittings (superscore- 35; Amherst does superscore the ACT); top scores:<br>
Math- 36; English- 35; Science- 34; Reading- 33; (Writing-9)
SAT: 2230 (taking it again on 10/6)/ Subject Tests: Math 2-800; U.S. Hist- 760
Leadership: VP of Natl Honor Society; Field Commander in Marching Band; Core Leader
in school's volunteering club (in charge of the volunteers at the inner city
center for children).
EC's: My passion is music: All-State Band last 3 yrs- 1st chair percussion each year
Piano- 3 competitions/year since kindergarten; 2nd in state
at Federation (10); 3rd in state at MMTA (4,5,6,9)
Marching Band- 300 hours each summer/fall
Chamber Choir; All-district Choir (11,12)
Show Choir (12)- many hours; weekend competitions
Volunteer playing piano at a day program for the elderly
Piano, percussion, and voice lessons
Volunteer Club- will have 130 hrs of mentoring inner-city children by end of sr yr
and I am a core leader in the club this yr.
NHS- Vice president; leading a year-long fundraising effort for local autism center
Calculus Club
Natl Spanish Honor Society
Break Dance Club
Church Youth Group (1 hr/week for past 4 yrs)
Work: Junior RA at camp for gifted children (summer before 12th gr)</p>

<p>Honors: All-State Band 3 yrs (auditions for this yr in Dec)
Scholarship ($1500) given in our town to top 2 9th graders
Voice of Democracy- 1st place in post 9th and 11th grade
"We the People"- on 1st place team at state (9)
Science Olympiad- 1st in state on individual event (8--OK to put one from 8th?)
I made a music DVD (piano/marimba) for the CA Arts Supplement. Letters- hopefully good (Chem and Calc teachers, gifted counselor; also my percussion teacher, head of percussion at local university, is doing a letter for the Arts Supp). Essay- almost done- on my brother who has autism and his influence on me. </p>

<p>You are a very strong candidate, in my view your a complete applicant(great EC’s, grades, and scores) write a good essay and I would say that you have a great chance for admission at Amherst. Good luck.
