Chicago really cares about how difficult your classes are so how many APs are you taking senior year? Your ACT is great but Chicago doesn't care too much about standardized test scores. Your GPA isn't that high but still good, your rank is wierd, above a 4 and automatically #1? You have great ECs, write a good essay and you should be in.

i am taking 3 APs, english lit, latin lit, and government (we the people constitution competition)
i am also taking 3 other honors classes: calculus, french III, spanish III
and a college-prep science course enviro sci

You're taking a lot of english classes, they seem pretty difficult. That sort of determination really helps but like everyone says, it's all about the essay now.

thanks for the responses, SoulinNeed, my school does not do valedictorians because of conflicts, especially because someone could have higher GPA but not as advanced courses, etc. so as a bonus, everyone with a 4.0 or higher (about 60 each class now) is ranked #1

Man, thats actually a great way of doing it. Anyways, I don't know, GPA for UC means different things. To me, the GPA isn't that high but whatever, focus on the essay.
