chances for an anxiety laden junior

Basically im slowly becoming more and more obsessive with the whole idea of going to college and the admissions process. I am the kind of kid whos never had worry about grades or success in school, thus i never really worked to my potential. Now im beginning to see how idiotic it was of me to give anything less than 100% the last two years, and im kind of worried that i wont be able to get into all of the colleges that id hoped to attend. This is where all you come in, hopefully youll be able to reassure me and tell me that Im not in trouble, but more importantly id like to know where i stand realistically, and id be greatly appreciative of any advice you have for my junior year. Here are my stats:

psat:
770-M 730-CR 680-WR
(will hopefully improve the english areas)

Sat II:
Bio-720
Chem-710
taking Math IIc and US this june (hopefully ill do a little better)

Course load:
All honors/college classes/AP's besides 9th grade english
Fresh/Sophmore gpa: 93ish UW 95ish W
Junior year: All A's with a B+ in Russian (pretty unique ehh?)
(I go to an ultra-competitive Long Island, NY school that doesnt rank)

AP's:
Euro: 3 (yeah bad, should have studied)
this year: Physics AB and US history
next year i plan on taking: Calc, Gov, Micro/Macro Eco, Lit, Bio and stat

EC's:
In school:
Student government class officer all three years (should be school VP next year), community service comitee (I help oversee all of the community service events and organization for the student government), president spanish club, spanish national honors society, JV baseball 2 years, Varsity track this year, DECA (states 3 years).
Out of school:
Officer of "teens as leaders" (local youth group), through this I have helped planned events (the latest being a bowlathon) for various causes, AIDS/HIV/STD peer education (30 hours).

Now here is the potential problem, I really only have a desire to go to some of the most selective schools in the country (undergrad business).
Heres my list in order of desire:
1. Upenn (id love wharton but that seems like a rediculous reach)
2. Georgetown
3. Duke
4. Brown (not as much what i'm looking for but Ive always wanted to go there, as has my family)
5. Emory
6. Wash U in St. Luis
7. Cornell
8. University of Michigan

Please help me outttttt

I don't see what the problem is. Raise your WR score on the real SATs and you are in good shape to get into a lot of those schools.

bumppppppppp

how does the 100 scale GPA compare with 4.0 gpa?

im pretty sure a 95+ is a 4.0 and then a 94 is a 3.9 a 93 is 3.8...

Long Island mom here. You're fine. You are on target for all those schools but as you know by now, a bit of luck comes into play too. Advice: Get your U. of Michigan application in early. A strong applicant with an early application makes U. Mich (almost) a safety. You gotta show extreme interest in WUSTL and Emory. Pay a visit if possible. If you want Wharton, you should apply ED (if you can swing it financially). Check out the AEM program at Cornell (it's in the Ag. School- so tuition is less for NY residents). That seems to be the undergrad business program at Cornell. My d is in the ILR program at Cornell. You have the stats, but as you are finding out, it is more than stats that will get you into your dream school (especially NY kids). Please get another safety or two under your belt. But if you get your U Mich application in by October, I think you will do fine. Just to add another piece of advice. Download this years applications (including common application). Get an idea of what info is needed and the format. Also the essays don't change that much from year to year- so if you can think about the essays over the summer, you will be ahead of the game when you are working on the actual applications next fall. We New Yorkers gotta stick together. Good luck.

Thanks alot for the advice marny, im definatly going to look into this years applications and get a jump on everything. Im planning on visiting at least a few of those schools, with emory at the top of that list. I have a few more safeties (binghamton & GW (not a real safety but i dont think ill have a problem) but I dont really want to go to either of those schools.

Glad to hear that you are including SUNY Bing and GW. I believe that by doing a visit to Emory and an early applic. to U. Mich you should be covered. And hopefully you'll also get some good news from the other schools too.

anyone else pleaseeeeeee

I don't see why you would want to go to a selective school rather than a school that is strong in your area of interest (UG Business).

If it interests you at all, the Kelley school of Business through Indiana University would offer you a full scholarship based on your test scores, rank, and GPA, through either the Wells Scholars or Kelley Scholars program. They are ranked 11th, ahead of all the schools you are listed but Michigan and Penn for business.

Duke doesn't have UG business. Brown doesn't have UG business. Indiana is better for UG business (according to US News) than Cornell, Georgetown, Emory, and WUSTL.

thanks for the advice but im not sure I would want to go under grad business to anywhere other then wharton or umich, the other schools on my list all interested me in various other areas such as gtown's sfs, cornell and brown for more of a science/liberal arts feel, and i just feel like duke and emory are schools which satisfy my personality, are top notch academically and offer me everything id need

one more bump for the night...

anythingggggg??

bump for the hell of it

Hmm. Firstly, calm down, really. You are a junior and this is going to torment you to know end if you keep it up. You are fine. You are a very strong applicant. Your PSAT scores don't mean that much, I scored about 300 points better on the real thing (still not incredible, but good). You will do fine. One note on Wharton, it's really hard to get into (yes, words of wisdom previousely unthought of by others)
