Chances for an Indian at Caltech, Stanford, MIT, etc. (without FA)

I am an International Indian studying in India in the CBSE syllabus.

Here are my marks:

9th grade - CGPA - 9.2
10th grade - CGPA - 9.6
11th grade - Percentage - 85%
12 grade - Percentage -

SAT 1 - 2130
SAT 2 - Math - 790 Chemistry - 770 - Physics - 770

AP CS - 5
AP Chemistry - 4

Decent ECs (music, sports, computer programming, etc.)

Please tell what are my chances of getting into Caltech, MIT, Stanford, etc.
I am not going to apply for financial aid.

Sorry to tell you that your SAT Composite scores won’t get you into those schools.

I am actually planning to write it again this June and I am expecting to get 2300+ What are my chances then?

You’ve picked the hardest schools for admission. Even people with perfect scores don’t get into these schools. As an international student, it’s even harder. These would all be reaches for you.

But it’s worth a try right?

Can you pay?

@JustOneDad‌ Yes

For MIT it doesn’t matter if you apply for FA or not.
However "decent ECs"and SAT 2130 are far behind “competitive enough” for int kids.

Why did your junior GPA drop that much??

Haven’t seen your writing ability, but you are really doing the short answer thing, so I have to assume it isn’t notable. You don’t get into these places with ‘decent’ EC’s, particularly if you are trying to do CS, which is what it looks like.

I’d set your chances generously at 1%, maybe 3X more or less depending on the things you haven’t shown yet.

What you really need to do is find a good match and use your energies in figuring out how you are going to make a mark there rather than obsessing about "top schools’.

According to last year, only around 3% int kids got in.

@paul2752‌ There is big leap in the difficulty level from the 10th to the 11th grade so my percentage dropped down but I will definitely improve in he 12th grade.

@JustOneDad‌ What colleges would be good matches for me? Consider my SAT score as 2300.

Five threads in the last three days asking the same question is not going to help you. Why don’t you stop asking the same question and start studying for the SAT? Remember how you think you are getting a 2300?

Didn’t you get enough answers in this thread?

@mnm111‌ Ok will do.

Caltech requires very high SAT scores.

MIT admits only 4-5 students from India and they are usually looking for some national or international awards when they pick them since so many apply.

Unless your school normally sends some students to Stanford, you may not be able to make it without great ECs despite not asking for FA.

If you are doing engineering, you should consider applying to Cornell and Georgia Tech and Berkeley.

@texaspg‌ Got it. Thanks.
