i was wondering what are the chances for an international student with good grades(all As) but no APs or IBs at duke?
Need more info. Grades aren’t enough. Everyone has great grades. Need evidence of “impact” in your community.
Extremely Low.
All applicants will have excellent grades.
If by “no AP/IB” you mean A evels, abitur, baccalaureat… Then you’re good. If you mean that you didn’t take the academic path in your school system then your odds are zero.
The difference between good rigor and excellent grades and adlission will rest on everything else that you can bring that no one else can bring.
@JenniferClint So would you say that Duke cares a lot about impacting the community? I’ve heard both sides; they focus a lot on stats vs. they care more about your impact on others
@madp01 All top-tier American universities care about impact. The statistics are a pre-requisite. You won’t get in without stellar grades and test scores (i.e. they are “necessary”). However, there is more to a competitive application (i.e. grades/scores are not “sufficient”).
Good luck
