Chances for an ivy?

Hi, I know chance threads can be extremely annoying, so thanks for looking at mine. I have always dreamed of attending an ivy. This probably won't be very detailed because I am just entering my junior year, so I haven't taken the sats yet.

Here's a little bit about me:

I got an 1800 on the psats as a sophomore, so I am hoping to get a 2000+ on the real sats.

I am second in my class, 5.019 gpa weighted

I play the viola and have been section leader since the 10th grade. I am also in the community orchestra and all state orchestra.

I run track and cross country.

I am also on yearbook (however debating quitting because I don't have the time), class council, science Olympiad (will be captain my junior and senior years, won a bronze medal), and math team.

I have volunteered at the library for 5 years now and am on the teen team there. I also volunteer at a homeless shelter where I am a team leader.

I am also working towards the congressional award.

During the summer I work at an enrichment summer camp for kids.

I am fluent in Russian too.. Don't know if that counts for anything lol.

Thanks so much!!

So far you are on the right track. However, junior year is described as “The hardest year of high school,” and the PSAT is easier than the SAT. So I’d say keep up your activities, raise your SAT score, and take rigorous courses and you should be fine! Good luck!

I think you’ve got a pretty good start so far. Keep up your gpa and your class rank but you’ll probably need to get your SAT up more than just around 2000. You have a lot of extracurriculars right now, try focusing on getting more leadership roles in them like track and field captain, that kind of thing. For the most part, keep up what you’ve been doing and also keep in mind you’ll probably need SAT II’s. Good luck!

Keep making As and get your SAT to a 2100 and you’ve got a fair shot at the “lower Ivies.”

Thanks so much for your replies! I really appreciate it.

My older sister had lesser ECs, rank, and sat score than me but was waitlisted to Harvard. My parents aren’t from the united states and she really played up the fact that we grew up in a different kind of household. I personally think that set her apart, and am hoping that it’ll help me out too,
