I hear that it's more difficult for an OOS to get it, but then people are also saying that it'll be much easier because Universities need the money they get from the OOS fees.
Thing is, even if I can get in, I don't know that I can afford to really pay all of the OOS fees. We're middle class so we won't be getting a lot of great financial aid, but I'm a triplet so we'll be spending a LOT of cash these next few years.

Other info: I also applied for their honors program and I'm from California

So, my stats:
GPA: It's low, but I don't really know if it's weighted or unweighted. It doesn't say on my official transcripts from my counselor. It just says 3.636, but I'm pretty sure that's unweighted. Either way, I'm ranked 54 out of 700 so I'm still in the top 10%. I've got sort of an upward trend. Not very dramatic though.

E/Cs:
Speech and Debate- I've been in it for 3 years (since 10th) and my first year my partner and I placed third in the league and competed at the state level in duo interpretation. Just last year I placed first in Expository Speaking in my league and, again, got to compete at the state level. Last year I was the co-captain of Debate and this year I'm captain of Individual Events.
SCRAWL- We publish student art in our magazine. Again, I've been in the club for 3 years. Last year, I was the co-editor and the Vice President. This year, I'm the Editor-in-Chief and the President.
Journalism- Again, three years. It couldn't fit in my class schedule as a freshman. Besides, it was a general rule that Journalism was only for the non-niners. In 2009 I won 2nd place in the SCJEA State Write-Off competition in Critical Review. I was the Entertainment Page Editor in 11th grade and the Opinions Page Editor this year.
KEY Club- Been in it for four years, but never claimed any leadership position. I could have easily gotten a leadership position, but I didn't have a lot of time and I didn't want the club to hurt because of me. I really just wanted to be in the volunteer organization to help people, not put in on an application so titles didn't mean much to me.
Acapella Group- I decided to include this activity rather than my SRLA experience (SRLA was a student group that helps kids train for the marathon. I decided not to mention it, but my recommender noted it in her Letter of Rec for the Honors App) even though I've only been involved this year. The group was only created recently by a teacher who wanted to showcase the exceptional talent of the student body who couldn't be in other productions for one reason or another. This was a very different activity for me, but an inspirational one nonetheless.

I got pretty good comments from teachers and my counselor for my essays and I'd revised them several times.

I applied to three UCs (UC Santa Cruz as my safety, UC Irvine, and UCLA as my reach), but I'd really rather not be close to home. Just in case I'm also applying to Chapman and Loyola Marymount University, but they're so... SoCal. I love where I live, but I just want a change of scenery. I want to leave and really experience being away and not being able to drive home in half an hour to see mommy and daddy. I need to be independent. I feel like it's in my blood. My dad left his small farmtown home in Montana for the big city in Arizona. My mom ditched the downtown poverty of her Manila condo for fast-paced LA. I just want to get out and live my life on my own without the safety net of home being so close by.
I would love to go to U-dub, but I'm worried that my gpa is too far below par to make me competitive enough. I'm also applying to Marist and the University of Dayton as my other OOS options, but UW is really my choice. Marist is cold and a little far from the city. Also, it's a private and only covers 71% of financial need. Dayton's too...religous. Chance me please? I'm so stressed.
Also, if you know anything about their financial aid especially for an OOS, please help! I've got info that says UW covers 88% of need, but is that for all applicants or just in-state?
