Hi, I'm applying to many schools in NYC for 9th grade and my reach schools are Andover and Exeter.

Scroll down for my stats, but first here's a rant about my reasons for applying to A/E:
It's hard for me to express how badly I want to go to these schools. I'm known for being really passionate about everything, and OH MY GOD I'm pretty much obsessed A/E. I STRONGLY desire an environment filled with motivated students like me.

Part of why I want to go to a new school for 9th grade is because at my current school, I'm kind of stuck in the popular clique. As in, I really want to try new things like the math team, debate, etc. but I feel like people would either make fun of me or not take me seriously because I'm "popular". I know people always say 'Oh, don't worry about what other people think,' but I feel like it would be a lot easier to pursue my interests in a place where everyone encourages trying new things and is motivated to succeed.

Stats:
Grades - all A's or A+'s in 7 & 8th grade; I got a C+ in tech in 6th grade, will this hurt me? (also in honor's math this year [highest level offered in my school])

SSAT - got a 99% overall.. I guess I'm good at taking standardized tests?? heard that this doesn't really count for that much though...

EC's
swimming - 8 years - nationally ranked through all 8 years, won numerous championships
charity work - 2 years - I hand make friendship-esque bracelets with words, pictures, etc. on them and sell them for charity - made $255 this year and $135 the previous year
flute - 5 years - first chair in band
piano - 7 years - self-taught, I really enjoy music and playing pop songs on the piano.
cross country - 1 year - captain of the cross country team
golf - 1 year - made rapid progress - shot a hole in one within one month and now can shoot from low 100s to high 90s within 3 months

So my problem is, all the kids I know who got into Andover/Exeter were nationally ranked math geniuses, which I am obviously not. Is there still a chance for me to get in? I have a genuine passion for learning and for going to these schools. Will that help a little bit?
