It’s impressive, but very common. Just remember there are going to be thousands of applicants with similar resumes like you.

Like the person before me, I really couldn’t distinguish you from the thousands of other applicants that I see on here for Ivies. I think if you write very very unique essays, however, you would have a decent shot.

i think cornell might be in reach. chance me back; http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1684824-chance-me-to-virginia-tech-georgia-tech-cal-poly-uiuc-usc-uc-berkeley-industrial-engineering.html#latest

Why do you want to go to an Ivy? If it’s simply because of the term “ivy league,” then you’re going about this process wrong. You simply want to be chanced for “an ivy” but there is no way you would want to attend all of the Ivies. They’re all extremely different. Do some research and take some tours before you judge a school by its name.

i just meant like a top 10 college in general

Wow. I’ve been on CC for quite a while now, but evidently, I’m still getting used to all the high-achieving students on here. OP, I think that you have a great chance at an Ivy, and if you apply to all of them, I would place your chances at 85% at getting into at least one of them. For reference, the most outstanding parts of your application: top ranked youth orchestra, your two year contract with youtube company, and playing at Carnegie Hall. I’m assuming your intended major is biology-related?

yes, thank you very much for your feedback

Your chances will depend highly on two things 1) How many other students from your school/area will be applying and 2) Your intended major

You have no hooks, but you do have the grades and SAT scores. So the issue for you is creating a hook for yourself

You seem to have a good shot for all Ivyies except for. Harvard, Princeton, and Yale because applicants over there have a lot better resume than yours

I disagree. Your musical achievements are VERY notable, and playing at the Carnegie Hall is anything but “common”. I have a friend who was in a National Youth Symphony and she got into Princeton. I think you have a great chance.

Playing in Carnegie Hall is actually not that big of a deal. I know of at least a dozen piano players in my suburban town who have played. This is not the big deal it used to be.

Whenever I see the phrase chance for ivy or ivy league from a poster…I just assume that individual is really unsophisticated/uninformed…and I just ignore. When I see specific targeted schools that are from different parts of the country and different athletic conferences…then I know this “poster” has done some research and knows what he/she is asking…

cornell is very possible and so are other ivies but many have similar resumes when applying to ivies you should apply to semi ivies also. If you are apply for pre-med, john hopkin seems like a good school for you

Is your GPA out of a 5.0 scale???

You have as good a chance as anyone, your grades, standardized test scores and EC’s are exceptional. Your essays and recommendations will need to be very strong as well. You have got the goods, if you distinguish yourself in the application process you have a very good chance at a top ten school. Best Wishes!
