I am from rural WI and am the oldest of the nine children in my family (don’t know if this makes a difference…).
I would love chances for…
Carleton, Colby, Bowdoin, Williams, Bates, Wesleyan and (I know it’s difficult to chance) Brown
Although your ECs are on the weak side for competitive schools, I think your ACT and interesting background will get you into most, if not all, of your schools. Good luck!
Hard to really judge when your school size/sample is so small. Your ACT score is great and your GPA seems competitive (assuming the school profile doesn’t show it to be an easy grader) and your AP scores suggest the rigor of your classes was decent. So I think you have a shot at any of them. But you need some matches and safeties too of course.
Looks like someone is just trolling with fake accounts they just created above.
All of the schools on that list are reaches for anyone (unless you have an amazing hook) but with the 36 ACT and the decent GPA, the OP has a decent shot at any of them. You still need some safeties and matches.
Question – if Bowdoin was “the dream” why didn’t you apply ED? Bowdoin gives a significant advantage to ED applicants. 57% of it’s final class last year were ED applicants.
Interesting. I guess the word that refers to people who intentionally write fake things to provoke a response that is also used to refer to a mythical creature is banned here and filtered out to look like a curse word…
@citivas Good question about Bowdoin – I decided not to apply ED for several reasons. I didn’t really fall in love with Bowdoin until after my interview, which was in December. Also, my parents and I want to be able to compare financial aid packages because we’re a family with significant financial need.
Thanks for the help! It’s funny about the filtered word…
