Well, low reach and match are in the same category.

Thanx for the input anyways. :)

Thanx for the input anyways. :)

Safety: Babson, Bentley, NE
Match: UIUC, Boston College
Reach: Chicago, CMU

Umich only looks at unweighted grades, and a lot of 3.8's 2100's instate have been getting deferred/rejected, so I think your borderline match/reach. I think that goes for NYU too. If you are going for the preferred admit for mich, then mich is a super reach for you. They take only 70 or so students, many of them instate.

Chicago is a reach but attainable because they put a lot of weight on your essays, not necessarily GPA.

ihateCA, you have a good shot at UVA. UVA looks favorably upon California residents. UVA is considered the Ivy of public universities.

Anyone who takes Northeastern over BU is a moron.

What are the public ivies again?

I thought it was like:
UVA, UMich-Ann Arbor, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UIUC, something like that?

jPoD: What are you talking about? BU's a match, and Northeastern is a safety.

you're pretty much set with your stats. You should be set to get into at least two of the matches/slights. The safeties arent real needed.

is money an issue?

Not really...I don't have to worry about it. My parents can deal with the financial issues. As long as it doesn't exceed $45k, it's A-Ok.:)

well cross GW off ur list haha and prob NYU...i think they are both pushing 50

I think u mitve already crossed GW off, which IMOP is good cause i dont think GW is worth all that

but NYU Stern...top notch, id def consider the bang for the buck, altho it is very expensive

I will be attending UVA next year and after seeing where all my friends are going...im gonna have to tell you that there should be ALOT more taken into consideration then just what schools has a good name and is pretty lol

not saying ur guilty of it, but make sure u dont fall into that trap. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Haha. I know. Bumpbumpbump. :)

Perhaps you should change the title of your post. A 3.9 student with 2000ish SAT isn't exactly 'average'.

3.9 is my weighted average when I give a 1-point weight for honors/AP (I know a lot of public schools do this) instead of .3 for honors/AP.

I'm more like a 3.55 student with a 2000ish SAT.

Wesleyan and BC are harder to get into than you think.

Wesleyan would probably be 15/85 and BC would be more like 30/70. Thats just my take. You have great test scores and decent grades, so I think Michigan would be 50/50.

First Choice:
-NYU Stern (maybe ED)
-University of Michigan(rolling, early october=very early)

Super Reach:
-University of Chicago:5/95

Reach:

-Carnegie Mellon/Tepper:25/75
-Wesleyan University:15/85
-UVA/McIntire:20/80
-Boston College:30/70

Low Reach/Match:

-Univ. of MD/Smith:45/55?

-Bentley College:75/25?
-Northeastern U.:70/30

How did you calculate the chances accepted/rejected percentage? Did you go with your gut feelings? LOL.

Gut feeling :) Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
