CHANCES FOR BARNARD, COLUMBIA, CORNELL, STANFORD?

Hi to all!

I'm a high school junior from New York State. I'm African-American, and am middle-class. I go to a high school known for its athletics more so than its academics. Most kids don't go to Ivy League-type universities. In order of preference, I would like to go to Columbia University, Barnard College, Cornell University, U of Penn, Brown, and Stanford (and maybe I will apply to college in Paris).

I would like to study French as a major. I am also interested in journalism and nutritional science, but French is a must for me.

As for my grades, I have about a 4.1 GPA. I have straight A+ in all my classes. Sophomore year, I took AP World History, and got a 4 out of 5. Right now, I take AP English Lang and AP US History. My highest grade is in French (which is notoriously difficult in my school), followed by Physics. In addition to these classes, my junior course load includes Intro to Law, finance, and dance.

As for SATs, I just sat the March exam, and I am anxiously awaiting my scores. I'm hoping for a 2200. I have taken the SAT II twice in World History, where I received a 710 the second time. I did not do well on the Chemistry SAT (not sure if that is an issue). I will be taking French and US History in May/June. My PSAT score is 181, and it is not a concern to me at all.

As for my extracurriculars, I have been taking dance for over 13 years, both in and outside of school. I am the captain of the Quiz Bowl team, which I have been on for 3 years. Sophomore year, I served as co-captain. I participate in Cross Country and Track. I think for junior year, I absolutely do not have time to do Track & Field.
I have a passion for writing. I write for my school newspaper as well. I think next year, I could be the Editor of the newspaper. I have also done extensive writing outside of school, submitting my work to numerous contests with cash prizes. I have had my work published twice in literary magazines, and this is my most honorable achievement.

I have done 100+ hours of volunteer work at a popular museum (and other places). My favorite volunteering position was tutoring a failing student in French. In the summer, I just relax. I do some volunteering, and I also travel. I would like a job at the movie theater or a bookstore this summer.

Thanks for taking the time to read my reply! I really appreciate your responses! They help me very much.

Bump

We really can’t chance you without your SAT Score or your UW GPA. As for now, they would all be reaches.

I believe these are your chances. (assuming you hit 2200+)
Barnard 60%
Columbia 40%
Cornell 50%
Stanford 30%

Even if you came back with 2300+, Columbia and Stanford would be a high reach; they are for everyone.

I think barnard seems likely…

Okay, so I got my scores and I need to take the SAT again. It’s a 1900 — 570 M, 710 W, 680 CR.
I know that I need a higher score.
