bumpppppppppppppppp

you have an excellent shot at admission, IDK what the criteria is for the honors program. The only thing hurting you is the essentially all band / music ec’s

On the contrary, the OP shows a deep commitment to a particular EC. While his app may not reflect the usual laundry list of half-hearted ECs, his statewide and county wide awards reflect a talent and proficiency that BC should look favorably upon, especially if he indicates that he plans on continuing to perform in college. Every college information session I have attended has reinforced the idea of passionate commitment to a small set of ECs as opposed to shotgun resume padding.

I’d say you’ll almost certainly be invited to the honors program.

Thanks, guys!

Dear noreally : A simply crafted search on the Boston College main web site (entering “Honors Program” into the search control) will take you to the Arts and Sciences Honors details.

[About A&S Honors Program - Boston College](Morrissey College of Arts & Sciences | Boston College)

There, you will see a 1450, top 5% and other attributes which can mark an application for the Honors Program. Your academic background clearly fits the profile suggested.

While your passion for music is evident and will be very well received, you did not highlight any school leadership or sports involvement. The leadership component is substantially more important for tagging you for the Honors Program than the sports item, but this was an area not discussed in your profile.

scottj: Thanks for the advice!

You have very impressive stats, so why not give HYPSM a try. However, be wary; I know people with identical stats that were rejected from top schools and had to “settle” for something else. You kind of come off as introverted with all your band activies…sort of like a band geek. The names of your music awards don’t give an indication of what you actually did or how rigorous it was. Adcoms may see this as stat padding and not really a true passion. I mean, if you were really musical you would have at least composed a few works by now. (preliminary, of course).
