Essay (Readers' Digest Version):
Father is Ecuadorian, I've lived/travelled there a lot. My experiences made me want to give back to their community. As of my senior year, I've started a charitable business via Spanish Honors Society where I buy Ecuadorian crafts from the poor town of Crucita in order to support the artisans. Then I sell the stuff at school for a profit, and send all that money down to a few church-run kindergartens in Crucita that need a lot of improvement.

Thank you to anyone who read this; your input is really, really appreciated!

Bump.... :)

I'd say you have a good chance, esp. if you qualify for URM status.

More info about yourself like location, sex, race (ecuadorian and..?), etc would be helpful, since they actually play a big role in admission and especially if you are a match/ slight reach candidate.

I'm pretty sure I don't qualify because I live in NJ, not Ecuador...my dad moved here when he was 10, so I've lived here all my life and I'm white. (There are white people in Ecuador who have immigrated there from Europe, and my father's grandparents did that...so it's not like I'm indiginous. But if I'm wrong, please let me know.) Thanks for the input though! Oh and I'm a girl...forgot to mention that in my original post.

Anyone else?

i have a friend who applied to BC last year with similar stats and she got in. i think you have a good shot.

Thanks Irishdarling!

and bump.
