Good luck with Blair! It is a great school, and I think you would be a good candidate given the information you posted. However, you are correct to look at other schools that might be possibilities because admissions can be unpredictable. They increase the class size for 11th grade but I think the number of new spots varies by year. Blair admissions could let you know how many new spots they have had over the last few years.

The boarding schools I know of offer tennis, but not all schools have a golf team. Or if they have a team, not all schools have a golf course on campus.

Have you considered the Quaker schools Westtown and George? In NY, did you think of the Millbrook School? There are a number of boarding schools in CT that are close to the NY border including Canterbury, Gunnery and Kent. Further into CT are Pomfret, Suffield and Miss Porters School (all girls). I think all these schools have golf teams, but I don’t know if any of the golf courses are on campus as it is at Blair. I don’t know if you can consider any of them to be safties, but they are not among the most competitive, and yet they still have a good reputation. Gunnery had a problem recently which you can search for on these boards, but I think it is still worth consideration.

I am a Blair parent, so feel free to ask me questions about the school or send me a private message.

thanks burb parent! I think Westtown and millbrook are suitable schools for my grades. I will definately contact you if i have any questions regarding the admission process of blair academy, thanks for your help! and btw does anybody know if any other boarding schools accept PSAT grades for incoming juniors?

Hey i got into Hill and it seems like I am getting into Blair it was easy, just nail the interview, and with those grades you will most likely get in

I applied for 11th grade this year(will be at Deerfield next year), and I think it’s not that hard like everyone said, but I could be wrong about late admission. Your grade are not the very best, there are many possibilities, I would suggest you apply as a junior repeat next year through normal admission, your chance would definitely be higher.
Are you a girl? because Linden Hall would be a good option, i applied there and got in early on in the cycle, but I turn down their offer for DA, call and see if there’s still space

exoveerotch is right. Getting accepted for junior year isn’t as hard as everyone says. I got into Northfield Mount Hermon, St. Marks School, and the Putney School; I was also waitlisted at Choate Rosemary Hall and Middlesex, which I think is a pretty good accomplishment. Anyways, I decided to enroll into St. Mark’s School. Best of luck with Blair! I have a friend who is a current junior, and she loves it there :)

I am wonder could i get in to blair also?
i am becoming 11th grade this year
i am not an american, i cave been to this contry about 2 years
my grades are
alg 2J A+
chem k A+
Eng A+
ESL A
Fine art2 A
Ceramics A
ChineseA+

Those grades qualify you for any school academically unless your current school offers an honors/AP track that you are not taking. I hope you plan to take a history course next year, and that you took one int 9th grade.

Blair, and the other boarding schools I know of, are interested in what you will contribute to the community. Admissions decisions are not made on grades alone. Things that will be considered include special talents, such as the arts and athletics, SSATs, level of interest in the school, fit, etc.

Blair does not offer ESL, and they expect their students to be fluent in English. You will have to take the TOEFL when you apply. Please verify this with Blair Admissions because my information may be old. If you come from a country like Korea or China with many other applicants from those countries, admissions may be more competitive.

Blair is a great school with a warm and welcoming community and a beautiful campus. Admissions decisions are often unpredictable at any school, so no one can tell you that you will be accepted. If you want boarding school, please add a few more schools to your list.

Good luck!

I am sorry, Burb Parent,

It might be a difficult question to answer but do you know the average TOEFL scores for Blair students? I’ve got 96 out of 120 but I am not sure if it’s ok or not. :-/

P.S. I am from Korea, 9th grader. (South, of course.)

I don’t know the answer, but if you contact Blair Admissions, I think they can tell you.

Good luck!
