Chances for Bowdoin? (ED I, Current Junior)

GPA:

3.76 UW 4.75 W

SAT/ACT:

probably not sending in, best SAT was a 1270. Ive purchased the college panda/Eric’s meltzer books and signed up for uworld and Kahn academy (3.15 hours/week) so I’ll try to improve it as much as possible.

Act: I hate the act. My best score was a 23 and I don’t want to take it again.

Classes:

9th - no AP offered, all A’s except biology which was a B-

10th - AP US History (A+), rest were A’s except chemistry which I got a B+ in first semester.

11th - IB World History (A-) , IB World Religions (A-), IB math studies (A-), IB German (A-), IB English Lit (A-), AP Physics 1 (A), IB Theory of Knowledge (A+).

12th (planned) - IB European History, IB Asian History, AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, IB Physics, IB English, IB German, IB Theory of Knowledge.

ECs:

Captain of Rowing Team soon, participated on team for all four years.

Member of schools (highly selective) event planning board, participating junior and senior year.

Member of National Honors Society (20 hours of community service per semester) since sophomore year.

Attending an archeology camp in Mesa Verde summer of junior year

Read historical stuff in my free time (books mostly)

Alumni:

Know an art history teacher from Bowdoin

Recommendations:

Likely From History teacher who’s a candidate for a state representative (and probably will win)

Likely From my Junior English teacher (who’s generally just an awesome person)

Likely From a counselor who’s very familiar with the east coast area

If it’s relevant, I’m interested in studying either:

History, Physics, Archeology, Anthropology, or Writing/English

Do you all think I have a chance? My top pick is definitely Bowdoin, and I’ll probably apply ED I next year.

It’s not relevant at all but im a straight Unitarian white male from Oklahoma with a Jewish dad and a Catholic mom. Both parents attended prestigious colleges (Westpoint and Tulane) and went to law school at NYU.

Thanks!

PS: any suggestions to improve my application for Bowdoin? I’d like to do an interview but finding the money for a flight there over the summer would be difficult for me.

For sure don’t send your SAT/ACT scores.

Definitely won’t if there’s no improvement. However I think I can improve.

PM me Dyloneus and we talk about strategies for your application.
